ASDA Cafe Overhaul: 180 Locations Getting a Major Makeover & More Changes

- Supermarket pumping £180m into major makeover of in-store cafes
- Tech upgrades, a pizza-packed menu, and a swish new vibe on the way
- Kids Eat for £1 deal will survive the changes – for now
Big changes are brewing at Asda – and this time it’s your cuppa and cake that’s getting the glow-up. The supermarket giant is dishing out £180million to revamp 180 of its 205 cafés, promising a tech-heavy transformation with table service, digital screens, and an all-new menu fit for a foodie's feed.
Out go the tired trays and queueing chaos – in comes a sleek, digital-first experience. Hungry shoppers will soon be able to order at screens or from their table, but traditional tills will still be there if you fancy a chat with a human.
Levi Winchester reported in The Mirror that the new menu will bring in high street-style bites like smashed avo on toast, katsu chicken curry, and loaded fries. You’ll also be able to grab a slice (or full 12-inch) of freshly made pizza in flavours like meat feast, American sizzler and veggie supreme.
And yes, don’t panic – old favourites such as fish and chips, full English breakfast and jacket spuds aren’t going anywhere.
Sweet tooth? There’s also flavoured iced coffees and cakes being added. For the little ones, meals like penne pasta with meatballs and a vegan hidden veg option will be sticking around, and the fan-favourite “Kids Eat for £1” deal is staying too.
The café makeover is being led by hospitality firm Compass Group and will be completed by the end of October. Asda’s move follows the launch of its first standalone George store in Leeds, signalling a big push into retail reinvention.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk the discount code platform said, “Asda’s putting serious money behind making its cafés more modern, and it’s a clever play. The pizza and iced coffee combo taps straight into the grab-and-go market, while keeping the £1 kids meal means families can still budget brunch.”

This will come in real handy. I hate shopping when I'm hungry, I buy stuff I don't really want, so now I'll just get eggs on toast and a coffee.
