Beloved Wetherspoons Menu Item Is Axed Without Warning – Fans Left Heartbroken

- Sticky soy sauce quietly pulled from Wetherspoons menu
- Diners devastated as ‘the one’ dip disappears from chicken bites deal
- Fans took to Reddit to mourn the sauce’s exit
- Chicken bites and other pub classics also temporarily cut
- Wetherspoons blames regular menu “review” for the change
Sticky, sweet, and the perfect partner for chicken bites — Wetherspoons fans are reeling after the pub chain axed its hugely popular sticky soy sauce.
Punters have taken to social media and forums like Reddit to share their disbelief, many calling it their “favourite” part of the meal.
One heartbroken customer wrote, “I lived for that sauce. Devastated doesn’t even begin to cover it.” Another simply said, “It’s gone. Not very happy about it.”
Laura McGuire reported in The Sun that Wetherspoons confirmed the Asian-style dip was removed from menus on May 14, as part of a regular review. A spokesperson said: “We appreciate that some customers will be disappointed and apologise to them.”
It’s just the latest blow in a wave of changes at the wallet-friendly boozer. Chicken bites — a £6.49 staple — are now “temporarily unavailable” nationwide. Steak, mixed grills and even gammon have also been chopped from the menu.
Still, it’s not all doom and gloom. A new range of Gourmet Burgers has landed, and a £2.99 breakfast deal is still going strong.
But for fans of the sticky soy sauce? It’s definitely off the table.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk the discount code platform said, “Dips and sauces might seem small, but they’re what make a meal memorable — especially when dining on a budget. Wetherspoons fans loved this one, and the backlash shows how much we care about the little things that bring us joy.”

I only go and eat there for the fish and chips so am not 'devastated' this is off the table
