Although Black Friday was in full swing over the weekend, shoppers who have waited until Cyber Monday could be in for a better deal.

Cyber Monday is the Monday after Black Friday, 27th November, and is traditionally the day for the best online technology deals.

However as Black Friday has mainly moved online in this year, is there a need for another online discount day?

Latest Deals has found shoppers may be better off waiting until after the weekend to grab the best deals.

During 2016, shoppers actually saved an average of £121 by waiting until the last minute to spend their money.

Sales have dropped for many retailers this year, so huge discounts are being offered to make up for the losses - a great opportunity for bargain hunters.

This drop in sales has led experts at the Centre for Retail Research, CRR, to predict that Cyber Monday could over take Black Friday this year by £7 million, to become the biggest day for online and offline spending.

Prices could even be so low on Cyber Monday, that retailers will make a loss.

James Brown, from pricing expert Simon-Kucher, said, “Black Friday is now a real experience and people love finding a bargain.

“But some businesses will slash prices so much by Cyber Monday, that they accidentally turn it into their most disastrous day of the year, as they try and get rid of stock that didn’t sell on Black Friday.”

Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk said, “Cyber Monday is a big opportunity for savvy bargain hunters, like the members of our community. If you’re a real deal hunter, you’ll know Black Friday may not be as good as it seems.

On Cyber Monday, shops are clearing the stock they didn’t manage to sell. Think of it like reduced-to-clear yellow stickers. It’s where the real bargains come out to play. Easy pickings for the penny-pinching minded.”

Last year also saw different deals on offer for Cyber Monday.

There were 45% more deals on clothing, 50% more deals on shoes, and better deals on beauty and toys, so those bargain-hunting for these products are better off waiting until the 27th.

But if you’re looking for deals on technology or small appliances, Black Friday offers will be best for you, as last year there was 85% more on offer than on Cyber Monday.

Latest Deals found that many of last years sought after products were cheaper after the sales event, so bargain-hunters may be better off to wait for Cyber Monday, or even later than that.

Wise words indeed. I have often seen better deals in December after the dazzle dazzle of BF and CyberM.
