EDF Cuts Standing Charges With Tracker Tariff Offering Up to £100 Savings

- EDF’s Simply Tracker Extra Apr26 replaces the Mar26 tariff, offering reduced standing charges
- Customers could save up to £100 by undercutting Ofgem’s price cap by £50 per fuel
- Savings are applied equally via lower daily standing charges
EDF has unveiled its new Simply Tracker Extra Apr26 tariff, which promises to help customers save up to £100 on energy bills. This updated tariff replaces the previous Mar26 plan and achieves savings by lowering standing charges instead of unit rates, ensuring all customers benefit equally.
The tariff tracks Standard Variable prices and consistently undercuts Ofgem’s price cap by £50 for electricity and £50 for gas, applied directly through reduced standing charges. EDF says this approach guarantees predictable savings for its customers.
Standing charges are fixed daily fees covering energy supply costs, including network maintenance and metering. Unlike unit rates, these charges are unaffected by how much energy you use, meaning savings apply to everyone on the tariff.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented: “This is a welcome move by EDF, as lowering standing charges offers customers consistent savings, no matter their energy usage. It’s worth comparing this tariff to see if it suits your household needs.”
