Greggs Announces Sausage Roll Price Hike Due to Rising Costs
- Sausage rolls now priced at £1.30 nationally, up from £1 in 2022
- Other favourites like coffee and steak bakes increase by 5p-10p
- Meal deals and loyalty perks introduced to support customers
Greggs has announced further price increases to its menu, with sausage rolls now costing £1.30 nationally, a 30% rise since 2022 from £1. In premium locations like London Bridge, prices have climbed to £1.55. Other popular items, including coffee and steak bakes, have also seen a rise of 5p-10p.
Despite these increases, Greggs CEO Ms Currie emphasised efforts to keep value-focused deals intact. Breakfast meal deals, including a bacon roll and coffee, and pizza evening offers remain at £2.85.
“We are trying to limit the price increases to pennies and protect entry-level prices,” she said, noting that Greggs is facing ongoing cost pressures from wage rises and inflation. To support customers, Greggs has introduced double loyalty points on lunchtime sandwiches for January.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented: “While price hikes are unavoidable, Greggs’ loyalty perks and value meal deals still make them a strong choice for budget-conscious shoppers.
Fair enough I would say, the budget added extra costs almost immediately but some don't kick in until the new financial year. It's a lot of extra costs to businesses. The pound has just fallen in value compared to the dollar and many imported items are priced in dollars even if not from the USA. So lots of reasons for price increases everywhere. The budget will have a inflationary effect although its still nowhere near as bad as Truss's budget.
