Meanwhile, Lidl is expanding at full speed. The supermarket has four new stores opening this month in Canning Town, Preston, Walsall, and Wombourne, plus five upgraded stores in Blantyre, Cwmbran, Oldbrook, Wells, and West Ealing. This comes after Lidl’s huge pre-Christmas expansion, which saw ten new stores open in December.
Richard Taylor, Lidl GB’s Chief Development Officer, said:
"After a record-breaking Christmas, where millions of households turned to Lidl, these openings reflect the growing demand for our unbeatable value and quality. This is just the start – we’ve got more openings in the pipeline this year alone and can’t wait to welcome even more customers, both loyal and new, through our doors in the weeks ahead."
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: "If you're a Lidl shopper, this is a no-brainer! A free croissant or £5 off your shop – it's worth checking the Lidl Plus app today to see if you've won. Plus, Lidl's store expansion means even more people can access their great value prices."

Yes I got the £5 off a £5 spend on my Lidl Plus app so did my mother. The one thing I don't like about Lidl's though is often reductions don't go through. They don't seem to cover up the old bar code when they add a new reduced bar code so its easy for the cashier to make a mistake. I forgot recently to check my Lidl receipt and lost about 70p because of the lack of reduction. Most supermarkets cover the original bar code so that can't happen. So it feels to me Lidl overall are still gaining. Lidl are really the only supermarket I have to check the receipt.
