Good news for UK workers—millions are set to see a pay boost from April as the Government raises the National Living Wage by 6.7%, giving full-time employees an extra £1,400 a year.
As reported by Laura McGuire, the new minimum wage for workers aged 21 and over will increase from £10.42 per hour, following the Government’s pledge to help wages keep up with rising costs.
The biggest winners are 18 to 20-year-olds, who will see their minimum wage jump from £8.60 to £10 per hour—a record-breaking 16.3% increase, meaning full-time workers in this group could earn an extra £2,500 a year.
The changes, announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves, will benefit around three million workers, particularly those in retail, hospitality, and other lower-paid sectors.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, the discount code platform, said, “With the cost of living still high, this pay rise will be a huge relief for millions of workers. It’s great to see wages increasing, but let’s hope prices don’t rise alongside them.”

kraton007 you are very much correct with what you are saying it is £11.44 and not £10.42 as stated in the above article

Unfortunately many businesses are struggling so some are cutting back on staff or not hiring new employees due to these changes and other changes. We are already uncompetitive for wages and it makes exporting difficult so these increases could have a knock on effect to exports and increase borrowing which adds to our debt pile.
