- New menu items and meal deals also launched.
- Supermarket vows to keep prices low despite rising costs.
Morrisons has made a major accessibility improvement by rolling out braille menus in its UK cafés, making it easier for visually impaired customers to order their meals.
As reported by Eloise Hill in GroceryNews, the initiative follows feedback from customers who found dining out a challenge due to the lack of suitable menu options.
Sean Gill, Morrisons’ Director of Café, explained, “It can be easy to take everyday tasks like ordering in a café for granted. We are always looking for ways to better support our customers, and the rollout of our braille menus comes as a direct result of listening to those who visit our cafés and are visually impaired.”
Alongside the accessibility upgrade, Morrisons has introduced new food options and affordable meal deals, reinforcing its commitment to keeping prices down despite economic eBay shoppers now face extra fees, with a new ‘Buyer Protection Fee’ adding 75p plus up to 4% on purchases from private sellers. A £20 item now costs £21.55, while a £2,000 item jumps to £2,046. Critics say the price hike doesn’t offer major new protections, making bargains harder to find.pressures.
The announcement follows a 4.1% rise in annual sales, with the supermarket vowing to absorb rising costs, including National Insurance increases from the recent Budget.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, the discount code platform, said, “It’s fantastic to see a big supermarket making real changes to improve accessibility. Hopefully, this inspires other retailers to follow suit.”
