Thousands of M&S shoppers are missing out on free birthday treats, all because they haven’t updated a simple detail in their Sparks account.

James Flanders reported in The Sun that nearly half of all M&S Sparks members haven’t added their date of birth to their profile – meaning they’re unknowingly forfeiting freebies like croissants, cupcakes, and even luxury truffles.

The fix? It couldn’t be easier. Just log in to your Sparks app or scan a QR code in-store to update your details. Once done, you’ll receive a birthday reward that you can claim anytime during your birthday month.

The treat you get depends on your shopping habits – it could be a box of Belgian chocolates, a fresh bouquet of roses, or even a £10 voucher to use on clothing and homeware. Some shoppers have even received discounts of up to 20% off!

An M&S spokesperson said, "As part of Sparks, our customer reward scheme, we are delighted to be offering Sparks customers a birthday treat to help them celebrate. To make sure you don't miss out, be sure to update your date of birth in your Sparks profile."
