Calling all Potterheads: you can transform your home into a mini-Hogwarts on a small budget.

You just need to follow the advice of mega Harry Potter fan Colette Blake, 28, who transformed her toilet into a magical space for under £100.

Colette, a mum of one from Redditch who works in payroll, told money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk: "I came up with the idea because our house is very black and white, and we wanted to add some colour to one of the rooms.

"For my birthday my sister made me the frames saying ‘I solemnly swear that I am up to no good’ and ‘Mischief managed’ and we wanted to do something with them.

"I went to Primark and found the bunting, took it to the paint centre and got the Hufflepuff yellow matched so I could use that colour on the walls."

"A lot of the materials we already had, so the only material we had to buy was the paint, shelves and the mirror. The paint we had matched so it was Harry Potter colours.”

Colette is delighted with how the toilet has turned out, and says getting the look right is all about shopping around.

"Now the toilet is finished I am so happy!” she says. "I never really used this bathroom as it was so dull before and I used to tell people to go to the main bathroom upstairs as I didn’t like the look of the downstairs toilet.

"To do everything with the materials (paint, mirror and shelves) it cost around £100. All the Lego was bought off Amazon when it was on a deal of the day deal so I never paid full price for those.

"The knitted figures round the mirror were bought from Aldi for £5 for four figures. The bunting and sign were both from Primark and cost £3 or £4.

"Even though it is a little more expensive to get the paint matched to the bunting it was worth it so it all looks the same.

"Shop around for different bits, there is loads of Harry Potter merchandise out there and you just have to find the right things at the right prices!”

Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, says: “Even Professor McGonagall herself couldn’t magic up a beautiful space like this for under £100!

“Potterheads all over the world will no doubt be impressed by the toilet’s transformation, and I’m doubly impressed at how Colette managed to keep costs down.

“If you want to renovate a room in your house with a touch of JK Rowling, look on Pinterest and Instagram for free ideas - there are millions of photos to draw inspiration from!"
