Argos Confirms Exact Time To Snag The Elusive Nintendo Switch 2

- Console lands 6am Thursday – but you’ll need to be fast
- Some bundles already selling out at other retailers
- Argos promises same-day collection for lucky early birds
- New console packs serious upgrades – and a steeper price
It's official: the Nintendo Switch 2 is dropping in the UK this Thursday June 5, and Argos has now confirmed exactly when gamers should be glued to their screens – 6am sharp.
After weeks of chaos trying to secure pre-orders, the handheld-console hybrid is about to land – and it’s tipped to sell out in record time. Shoppers eager to level up will want to set their alarms, bookmark the listing and be online before breakfast.
Argos has teased the launch, telling fans “the Nintendo Switch 2 is almost here” and promising that, thanks to its click-and-collect service, gamers could be powering up their new console before the school run is even done.
While Argos' pre-order pages are currently out of stock, stockists like Very are holding the line, still offering the Mario Kart World Bundle for £429.99 and the standalone console at £395.99. Amazon has been sneakily refreshing stock too – so refreshing those pages could pay off big.
The base console at Argos will retail for £359.99, with bundles expected to rise above the £400 mark. But prices haven't stopped demand – with some shoppers already flipping their pre-orders for profit online.
The new Switch boasts a 7.9-inch LCD screen, 1080p HD, and a revamped dock with 4K HDR support. The upgraded Joy-Con 2 controllers now come with magnetic connections and mouse-like precision, while a new GameChat system offers voice and screen-sharing in real-time.
But not everything's sunshine and Mario Kart. Shoppers should note the shorter battery life compared to the OLED model – and the price bump too.
Top tip: If you're desperate not to miss out, add the console page to your bookmarks now, and be ready for Thursday’s 6am digital stampede.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk the discount code platform said, "This is going to be a real blink-and-you-miss-it drop. If you want one on day one, you’ll need speed, strategy, and probably a bit of luck. Set an alarm and have the page ready to go.”

I don't think Argos are selling the base console for £359.99 that is well below the normal price and its only just launched. It's basically a £400 console although it Japan it sells for less than £300 when the currency is converted.
Seems to have had a fantastic launch day but of course its more about how it sells long term and if the more casual gamers are happy to cough up £400 for the console and up to £75 for the games like Mario Kart World.
It feels like poor value for the dated specification which was designed back in 2020/2021 but its a nice package overall.
