Supermarkets Are Handing Out Cash This Summer – Here's How to Get It

- Iceland is giving eligible families a £5 top-up on free school meal vouchers
- Aldi to give away £50 food vouchers every day through summer
- Families can save on essentials, uniforms, and more without jumping through hoops
- No catches: simple sign-ups and major savings for parents feeling the squeeze
Feeding the family during summer holidays is tough at the best of times – and this year, nearly a quarter of UK parents say they’re considering skipping meals so their kids can eat. Now, two of the UK’s most popular supermarkets are dishing out support in the form of food vouchers and hefty discounts.
Iceland is giving a £5 bonus to families eligible for free school meals – the biggest summer top-up the retailer has ever offered. That’s more than double last year’s bonus. The offer is available at both Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores, and all families need to do is have a Bonus Card and scan it at checkout.
The extra fiver will appear within seven days – no strings attached. Richard Walker, Executive Chairman of Iceland, said: “No parent should have to sacrifice their own meals to feed their kids.”
And that’s not all. Iceland has launched new multibuy offers like 8 items for £10, half-price deals, and discounts on household essentials like laundry products.
Meanwhile, Aldi is rolling out its Summer Support Scheme – and it’s not means-tested. Every day from July through to the end of August, Aldi will randomly pick one family to win a £50 voucher to spend in-store. That’s 62 chances to win free food, toys or even school supplies from the Specialbuy aisle.
Entry is free and easy – just email your name and address to: SummerSupportScheme@aldi.co.uk.
The support doesn’t stop there: Aldi has frozen the price of its Mamia infant formula and re-launched its hugely popular Back to School uniform range – with full outfits from just £5. PE kits, joggers and football boots are also in the mix, starting from under £7.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk the discount code platform said, "Parents are facing relentless pressure this summer. That’s why these kinds of simple, no-hassle supermarket savings can make all the difference. It’s not just about food – it’s about dignity, confidence, and getting through the day with one less thing to worry about."
