Thousands of Families Can Claim Up to £200 for School Uniforms

- Up to £200 available for families struggling with school uniform costs
- Help offered via the Household Support Fund (HSF) across various councils in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland
- Eligibility typically includes families on low income or certain benefits
In a major move to support struggling families, thousands of households across the UK can now claim up to £200 to help with school uniform costs, thanks to the Government-backed Household Support Fund (HSF). This scheme is designed to assist low-income families, and the amount available can vary depending on the council and specific circumstances.
To access the grants, families need to get in touch with their local council, as eligibility criteria can differ by region. Typically, those receiving benefits like Universal Credit or Income Support are most likely to qualify.
For example, Medway Council in the South East is offering £100 for each dependent school-age child, while Milton Keynes offers varying amounts based on a council assessment. London’s Southwark Council provides £45 vouchers for children transitioning from primary to secondary school.
The support doesn’t end in England, though. In Wales, eligible families can receive £125 per child or £200 for those moving from primary to secondary school. Scotland and Northern Ireland also offer grants, with up to £150 available for secondary school pupils in Scotland.
