Three Announces Price Hikes Effective from March – What Customers Need to Know

- Customers to see increases based on data allowance or inflation-linked percentages
- Plans with 4GB or less will rise by £1 per month; larger plans increase up to £2
- Changes are part of a new transparent pricing structure following Ofcom's regulations
Mobile network Three has announced price increases for its customers starting this March. The changes, tied to data allowances or inflation rates, come after Ofcom introduced rules requiring telecom providers to set clear pricing from the start of contracts.
How the Price Changes Work:
For customers who joined on or after September 8, 2024:
Plans 4GB or less: Increase by £1.00 per month
Plans between 5GB and 99GB: Increase by £1.25 per month
Plans 100GB or over & Mobile Broadband: Increase by £1.50 per month
Home Broadband plans: Increase by £2.00 per month
For customers who joined before September 2024:
Charges will rise by the preceding December CPI rate plus 3.9%.
Why the Changes?
Three says the increases are due to inflationary pressures, including energy costs, supplier increases, and rising staffing expenses. The company aims to make the changes fairer by linking them to data usage rather than a flat rate across all plans.
Support for Customers:
Three is offering financial support options, including a social tariff via SMARTY, for customers struggling with the increases.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented: “While no one likes price hikes, Three’s transparency about the changes and efforts to provide support are positive steps. It’s a good reminder to review your plan and check for alternatives if needed.”
