If you’re currently a Sky TV customer, you can upgrade your plan to get more channels for free.

The company has replaced its’ Sky Original package with a new Sky Entertainment package, which gives you access to 80 extra channels but with no price difference.

The new system will allow customers to customise their plans based by adding and removing channels every 31 days.

Sky Entertainment, which opened up to new customers in December 2017, is now available to all of its’ 12 million households.

A spokesperson from Sky said, “We’re introducing a new TV package called Sky Entertainment, which will let customers make Sky TV their own by personalising it based on what they want to watch.

“All customers will be able to enjoy the new package from this January.”

How can you get it?

If you’re an existing Sky customer and using the Original package, the change won’t happen automatically- you’ll have to get in contact with Sky to switch over.

Explain to them that you want to switch from your current Sky Original to Sky Entertainment, and then you can let them know what you want to add on.

Dani Warner, TV expert at uSwitch, said, “This relaunch brings Sky much more in line with the sort of versatility on offer to Netflix and NOW TV customers.

“Previously, if you wanted box sets or kids’ content, you have to commit to an 18-month contract, now you can add and remove as you like.

“All in all, this is a step forward for Sky, who seems to be learning from competitors, and realising that people want the freedom to access the content they want, when they want it.”

It’s always worth looking around for the best deals out there- earlier we found that switching energy providers can save you £250 a year.

Sky Entertainment has 350 channels in total, including Sky Atlantic, Discovery, National Geographic, and MTV.

I have seen no comparisons of the channels you get, just this re-trotting of the press release. Also it's not automatic as you have to agree to a new 18 month contract. Dodgy dealings there.
