Waitrose’s £15 Croissant Easter Egg Leaves Shoppers Asking One Key Question

- Waitrose launches a croissant-shaped Easter egg, but shoppers are baffled.
- Priced at £15, customers are all wondering the same thing—solid or hollow?
- Made from caramelised white chocolate with milk chocolate drizzle and crunchy crumbs.
- Rising cocoa and dairy prices are pushing up the cost of chocolate treats.
Waitrose has unveiled a new Easter egg that’s got everyone talking – not for its taste, but for its shape and price. The croissant-shaped Easter egg is priced at £15, and shoppers are struggling to wrap their heads around it.
Hana Carter reported in The Sun that a post on the Very British Problems Facebook page sparked debate when a shopper shared a picture of the unique Easter treat. The packaging describes it as “a perfectly shaped croissant made of rich blonde chocolate, drizzled with milk chocolate and sprinkled with crunchy chocolate crumbs.”
However, customers weren’t debating the taste or quality – they had just one question: is it hollow or solid?
"Is it hollow?" asked one shopper.
"For £15, that better be a solid croissant!" added another.
"All I want to know is—solid or hollow?" echoed a third.
For those wondering, blonde chocolate is actually caramelised white chocolate, giving it a deeper, toasty flavour. But with the rising costs of cocoa and dairy pushing chocolate prices higher, many are questioning whether this indulgent Easter egg is worth the splurge.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: "This is one of those products that gets people talking. Whether it’s a gimmick or a must-have, one thing’s for sure – everyone wants to know if it’s hollow or solid!"

Best get after Easter when hopefully they are half price No doubt they taste yummy but no doubt they will be hollow, it’s like M & S giant walnut whip - when you want a big one and it’s filled with little ones it defeats the point and I expect this croissant will be the same!

Waitrose seems so uncompetitive in price but this is a premium product so perhaps an extreme example of poor value. I occasionally go into Waitrose to get the free hot drink and you find some offers you won't see elsewhere but I actually think its more expensive than M&S and not as good quality for most items. I'm surprised Waitrose can still exist. It's hard to know which will be the next supermarket to disappear from the UK. Both Morrisons and Asda have huge debts both caused by leveraged buyouts I think and Waitrose just seems so uncompetitive. My guess would be one of these 3 is ripe for takeover or even disappearing. My nearest Waitrose is Sherborne and they have a Waitrose and Sainsburys and that is it. If they want a different supermarket they have to come to my town Yeovil which has all the others basically. Sherborne is a posh small town so I guess Waitrose works for them.
