Xbox has the world's most powerful console and the best value in games and entertainment with the Xbox One family of consoles. It is the successor of the Xbox 360 and was first released on 2013 in North America, parts of Europe, Australia and Brazil and in 2014 in countries like China, Japan and other European countries. According to Microsoft, it is an all-in-one entertainment system. The Xbox One line mainly competes against consoles such as Sony's PlayStation 4 and Nintendo's Wii U and Switch.

The game console marks a shift back to the x86 architecture used in the original Xbox. It features an AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) built around the x86-64 instruction set and a its controller was redesigned over the Xbox 360's, with a redesigned body, D-pad and triggers capable of delivering directional haptic feedback. The console places an increased emphasis on cloud computing, as well as social networking features, and the ability to record and share video clips or screenshots from gameplay, or live-stream directly to streaming services such as Mixer and Twitch. Users can also play games off-console through a local area network on supported Windows 10 devices.

The console can play Blu-ray Disc, and overlay live television programming from an existing set-top box or a digital tuner for digital terrestrial television with an enhanced program guide. The console optionally included a redesigned Kinect sensor, marketed as the "Kinect 2.0", providing improved motion tracking and voice recognition for use in its graphical user interface (GUI) and games.

Xbox One is updated all the time, so it is easy to lose track of all the new features being added to your console. So let us guide you through the 10 best hidden features you might have missed, from easy Achievement tracking to stamping your mark on your controller.

Notable features:

  • 40% more power than any other console, experience immersive true 4K gaming.
  • The 8-core Custom AMD CPU is clocked at 2.3GHz to bring enhanced AI, real world detail, and smoother interactions to your gaming.
  • 12GB GDDR5 of graphic memory add speed and power to game performance to enable bigger worlds, further horizons, and quicker load times.
  • A 6 Teraflop GPU enables 4K environments and characters to become more realistic than ever, with more detail and smoother animations.
  • Game graphics are faster and more detailed with 326 GB/sec memory bandwidth, to keep your gaming momentum flowing.

Xbox One X

Xbox One X was unveiled during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference. It’s a high-end version of Xbox One with upgraded hardware and a further-streamlined form factor and was released on November 2017 and a limited, pre-order exclusive "Project Scorpio Edition", with a dark gradient finish and green "Project Scorpio" inscriptions on the console and bundled controller.

This gaming console upgraded hardware that is designed primarily to render games at 4K resolution, and provide performance improvements for existing games; they can be displayed at full resolution on 4K displays, or supersampled for lower resolutions displays. It uses a system-on-chip (SoC) known as Scorpio Engine, which incorporates a 2.3 GHz octa-core CPU, and a Radeon GPU with 40 Compute Units clocked at 1172 MHz, generating 6 teraflops of graphical computing performance. It also includes 12 GB of GDDR5 RAM, 9 GB of which is allocated to games. It’s also compatible with all existing Xbox One software and accessories.

Elite controller

Unveiled during Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference, the Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller is an elite controller for the elite gamer according to Xbox division head Phil Spencer. It features a steel construction with a soft-touch plastic exterior, along with interchangeable rear paddle buttons (with either short or long forms), analog stick tops (concave and convex), and directional pad designs (either the traditional four-way design, or a concave disc-like design), and "hair trigger locks" for the triggers that allow users to reduce the amount of distance they must be pressed to register a press. Through software, users can customize button and paddle mappings and adjust the sensitivity of the triggers and analog sticks. Two button profiles can be assigned to a switch on the controller for quick access. The Elite Controller was released in October 2015.
