Will you be celebrating Grandparent's Day?
Call us cynical, but when emails started hitting our inbox this week about Grandparent's Day, we thought it was something made up by a marketing department. However, we are happy to have been proven wrong. Grandparent's Day originates from the United States, where Marian McQuade started her campaign for Grandparent's Day in the early 1970s. Her idea was that the holiday should be a time for families to visit with older family members living in nursing homes. Her idea quickly grew to encompass much more. As she worked with politicians and others, she emphasised the wisdom and family history that grandparents can offer their grandchildren and other family members. In the U.K, Grandparent's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in October and was introduced by the charity Age UK as a way of strengthening family relationships and reminding people to visit older relatives. This year we know many of you will still be unable to visit friends and relatives (be they grandparents or not) as they may be shielding or too far away. We're offering 15% off our Chocolate Gift Boxes between now and September 25th, which coincidentally is the delivery cut off for orders to arrive in time for Grandparent's Day in the UK. Simply use the code GRANDPARENTS15 at the checkout (Cannot be used with any other offer, expires September 26th)
