I'm posting this because I feel that the company could have at least reduced my breakdown policy as I informed them of the loophole in their customer journey.
It's pretty simple: make a quote and use '15APP' in the discount code field when you come to pay.
Note: I discovered this *after* getting a quote, paying for the cover and then being presented with a 15% code when I opened their app for the first time.
I'd downloaded the app, because it seemed the sensible way to request a recovery while on the road. I hadn't put in my policy number so it assumed I was a prospective customer and offered me a discount code. I was so annoyed, I left a feedback form and they've just called but, apparently, they think it's a fine thing to do and won't reduce my breakdown over.
The idea is that the code is meant to be used for another car or product they offer through their website (household cover etc). The trouble is I went back into the website and did a new quote with the same details and as the car policy database isn't linked to the quotation engine it doesn't stop you from applying the discount code.
You can also remove your policy number from the app and go back into the app to find the discount code being offered again!
if you can be bothered all existing Startrescue.co.uk cover holders could cancel and renew their cover and get 15% as well.
Anyway, if you want to breakdown cover with:
Roadside Assistance
Local Recovery up to 10 miles
Nationwide Recovery
Home Assist
Free Legal Expenses Policy
Accident Recovery
Alternative Travel
Emergency Overnight Accommodation
Key Assist
Message Assist
All the works, basically. You can get for £40.37 annually (limited to 6 breakdowns, I think) instead of £47.49. In my limited knowledge of breakdown cover, I think that's quite a stellar deal.
