With the seemingly countless variations of fragrances available to buy today its understandable that people can get confused with the concentration levels of a perfume. The fragrance concentration of a particular perfume refers to the fragrance’s strength. The higher the concentration the more pure the fragrance – it contains a greater amount of perfume oils and less alcohol, therefore the cost of the fragrance is greater. Also the greater the concentration of perfume oils the greater the lasting power on the wearers skin (usually referred to as tenacity).
A short guide to follow is;
Parfum – Concentration of perfume oils – 20-40%
Eau de Parfum – Concentration of perfume oils – 15-20%
Eau de Toilette – Concentration of perfume oils – 5-15%
Eau de Cologne – Concentration of perfume oils – 2-5%
Eau Fraîche – Concentration of perfume oils – 1-3%
