That's terrible to think that there are people out there that do this sort of thing, hate the thought of people being ripped off especially in these uncertain times and I know that there will unfortunately be people that will fall for this sort of thing. You're correct in saying if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

Thanks for making us be even more aware and be on our guard 👍.

People get scammed because of pure greed, if they looked into things they would realise it’s fake.

Great post, it is easily done, there can always be price glitches but if it looks too good to be true it will probably be a scam. It's always best to check reviews x

nina090976 But never trust reviews that seem too good to be true either - TrustPilot is directly financed by those being reviewed. And I've found many rip off merchants with glowing reviews on TrustPilot.

Personally I always read any one star reviews that have been allowed to remain.

davidstockport yes, fair point, these fake websites seem to pop up around christmas time, a lot of people wanting to get a bargain that can work out expensive if scammed .

I stick with sites I'm familiar with x

nina090976 I know of at least one site that its users seem familiar with and trust, where many of those users are unaware they're being ripped off. Some scams (often for small amounts) aren't too obvious.

I hate these scammers and always check trustpilot if you've never heard of them. There are alot of people who want somethng for nothing so they dont bother checking

Dalton95 Sorry to inform you that many of those who've heard of TrustPilot who've done a bit of checking, now trust TrustPilot as much as Jesus should have trusted Pontius Pilate.😀

(have you ever checked the reviews for TrustPilot - on TrustPilot- before they get removed)uk.trustpilot.com/review/trustpilot.com

davidstockport yea ive read the reviews about how they remove reviews, but if all the reviews are negative the site is probably not to be trusted. Trustpilot and their constant removal of reviews is another thing. Some sites are always flagging negative reviews just to get them removed but trustpilot does nothing about it, so i agree its not totally trustworthy

Dalton95 I agree , checking is always advisable . However the best way NOT to get scammed is to use your own noddle . If it seems too good to be true then probably worth avoiding . I always check hotels on Trip Advisor - how many times are there great reviews and terrible reviews for the same dates ? All you can do is read as many as possible then use your discretion and your noddle .

Dalton95 "not totally trustworthy" that could go down as the understatement to beat all others. 😀 If I see any advertisement or review using TrustPilot ratings to promote anything - that diminishes my respect for the advertising medium or review site.

Did you know that TrustPilot will assist those who pay them to contact any favourable reviewers to ask for further reviews? I could understand that if it was to review different products - but TrustPilot reviews are not really for a product but for the company.

davidstockport & Dalton95 I found this AFTER my remarks about TrustPilot, much of which confirms what I've said (actually accusations that they're a criminal organisation - Unchallenged by YouTube.

Well worth a read by anyone who is not convinced of whether TrustPilot should be trusted or not.

Incidentally I played no part in any of the posts - and there must be truth otherwise TrustPilot would have taken action. Which supports my opinion that they're truthful.

davidstockport i know how corrupt they are. I had 3 reviews removed from hukd page the day after hukd came into my inbox and had a go at me for leaving negative reviews about the moderation. Trustpilot said it was their software that detected suspicious activity which is a load of rubbish because of the timing of it and i'd already provided evidence to support my reviews. Hukd even flagged my reviews knowing who i was and that i was telling the truth. Misuse of the flagging tool is against the rules but Trustpilot does nothing, probably being paid to do nothing.

Dalton95 One day the proverbial will hit the fan and several review and deal sites will be exposed for what they are... it is only the very naive who trust them at present.

It's got to the point the only reviews I take any notice of are negative ones (left to remain if the company reviewed doesn't cough up about $400 a month), it's human nature that the only people who'll post a review voluntarily are those with some grievance, the positive ones are usually paid for. You might notice that the positive ones often come in flurries soon after a not too complimentary one (to try an bury it). You'll often find that those are from people who've previously reviewed (some of whom use more than one account).

davidstockport They always react to negative reviews by sending invites which are all 5 stars. This article say it all www.seotraininglondon.org/can-you-trust-trustpilot/

It even says that asking for reviews only from users you know will give positive feedback is illegal. I dont know why they even bother breaking the law when all of the most used sites on the planet like Facebook, Amazon, Ebay and Youtube have less that 2 stars on Trustpilot and it doesnt stop them from being a success.

At least if we visit a site via Latest deals we can have a bit more confidence that it is a genuine Site.

Howmuch How do you work that out? If you think that Latest Deals know things unknown to the rest of us I do suggest you think again.

davidstockport I once tried to post a link that auto filled with a site that was similar but not what I had intended, it was picked up as being of concern straight away. I also tried to post a deal for a new site and it was rejected until latest deals had confidence in it. I would definitely think latest deals have knowledge beyond my own or I would have my own success site, I would not want to underestimate others.

I've seen loads of these sites and they seem legit at first as they are the results of shopping searches on google but you soon realise they are fake when you look at the prices. I like a good price but when its a fraction of the normal price its clear you will never get the item and the sites are often flawed in how they operate or the checkout procedure.

I am speechless Tom. I am glad you have pointed this out so soon - before Black Friday - otherwise lots of people would have fallen for these types of scams.
