When my children were at school, the holidays were not long enough, now I have no children at school, the holidays are to long.

eyeballkerry thank you for responding.

I live opposite 2 schools so not long enough for me 😂. They are very noisy.

wyal5 I live next to a Primary school and I am sure it gets noisier every year. We have the field part and they get so close to our fence when there is no need.

Its a hard one, I think maybe just a couple more days would be nice, but not to much as it can be very difficult for working parents to manage childcare. I'm sure we had longer off as kids but I'm not sure if that's just my memory tricking me.

Midnightflower I think overall kids have less time at school these days as they seem to have inset/teacher training days off and the school day ends at any time between 3 and 3.30pm. I distinctly remember clock watching until 4pm home time as a kid, could be a false memory I suppose!

Midnightflower thank you for responding. They do have a lot of inset days now. I rarely remember having any.

I thought we had longer off when we were kids. But like you said it might just seem that way.

Lynibis I think your right about the school days being shorter but I think they spend longer in school in terms of years as most attended nursery at 3 and have to stay until their 18, where as both my generation and my parents could leave at 16.

wyal5 it's hard to tell isn't it, I remember feeling like the summer holidays went on forever. Time is certainly different when your young.

My sons school puts all there insert days into one week and add it to the October half term. In all fairness if you wanted to take a holiday it could come in handy as it's off peak but it's a pain if you haven't got extra cash to spare and need to keep them occupied. I really wish they'd add it to spring break instead.

Midnightflower yes you're right, that is a whole new topic lol as personally I don't agree with kids being forced to stay to 18, especially if they are not very bright and want to train for more blue collar type jobs. I was married at 17 lol!!!!

Midnightflower they still can finish at 16 if not going into further education, they can get a job or apprenticeship.

Lynibis and don’t forget the strike next week, we have just been informed our school might be closed. Not great for working parents

It's hard to find things to do with them during holidays when it's cold that's not expensive and it gives me chance to get things ready when they in school but I'd rather have this longer and summer holidays shorter

They have to many holidays full stop. Give them 28 days like the rest of society in general.

Too long, shorter breaks but more regular would be my choice fun if it snows but boring time of year.

I think the Christmas holiday is too short but the summer holidays are way too long

When I was a youngster we hardly had any time off. It seems children these days are constantly having holidays. They're barely at school lol.

I think it’s too short - here they only get 10 days off total for Christmas including the two weekends they wouldn’t be at school for anyway, so it’s only 6 total days off school. I think a few days off in the week before Christmas Day would be nice, personally.
