Ask a Question
As the weather is getting colder, I am craving shepherd pie with cheese, this is one of my favourite foods for this time of year.
What is favourite autumn food ?
Can't go wrong with a shepherd's pie, even though most of us call it that when we make it with beef mince lol.
Lynibis True, I prefer beef to lamb, I tried it once with quorn, something not to be repeated
I don’t think beef stew and dumplings with mash potato can be beaten. Lovely on a cold evening.
reannsgran That sounds lovely, I haven't had dumplings for years, I used to cook a cheese and herb dumpling recipe.
reannsgran Oh yes! Craving this now, a good warming meal. I could eat this for days without getting bored.
I love a beef stew with herby dumplings and lots of pulses. I might make one at the weekend and it will last two meals.
Slow cooker turkey and bacon stew, with Yorkshire puddings. Not at this point yet just experimenting with jacket potatoes in the air fryer I bought in the summer.
Liver and mash potatoes (frozen) from Tesco. I could eat it nearly every day but the price of it I only eat it once a week.

You can put any meat in it.
I used to strip the chicken from the Sunday roast and make it with that.
Every family has a different recipe though and most people would say chicken is a no-no.
I normally use a gammon joint because lamb and beef brisket is too expensive.
Snap. I do love some homemade soup, and lasagne, and beef stew and roast dinners I love food can you tell
A nice Beef stew. I usually make enough for 2 meals. My other half always moans that the onions have disappeared so once I made it with 8 onions so he moaned there was too many. Can't win lol
It has to be a beef casserole for me, it’s the only way I will eat vegetables. I usually make a large one for two days but we end up eating it all in one sitting as it’s so tasty.
eyeballkerry I can relate, although it always think it tastes better the 2nd day if you can resist.
My mum's homemade chicken noodle soup and her scoth broth. I love when she brings tubs of it over for us. Reminds me of my childhood, eating soup on a Sunday with her and my dad.
Pie, mash and gravy or roast dinner are my winter favourites. Warming food on a cold day is bliss.
A roast dinner or soup with bread and butter is my go to - especially if I have a cold!
I love a chicken or beef stew. So early to make and very cheap. It's one of my sons favourites too x
It would definitely need to be a big pot of stovies for our family. Good old fashioned comfort food
Pjran Oh you cant best a good chilli, although I don't like kidney beans, but I do like a bit of a chilli kick
beccatavender I hadn’t either, done it in the slow cooker with evaporated milk and it left that satisfied food feeling , go for it x
A lamb roast dinner with stuffing, peas, carrots, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings and gravy with a glass of wine on the side

Hot Choc with squirty cream and Marsh mallows

Bangers and mash with gravy is a strong favourite rite for me in this weather and pork apple and stuffing rolls
