Woman Playing a Harp on High Street is Berated by Passer-By

Ask a Question

Seriously !!

This ridiculous woman complains to the harpist playing on the street that she is begging and will report her to the council

I wonder if she does the same to buskers playing guitars or singing ??

I know what they would say to her if she threatened some of them , but she knows this girl will not retaliate

Its classic how cool she stays dealing with the grinch and answering her questions

Besides, nobody is forcing people to give her anything, its personal choice , and its not as if she is sitting there with a dog and a cap doing nothing , At least she is performing , and well at that

What do you think about this situation ?

I’m sure all street musicians have to put up with abusive remarks. I admire the young lady who continued to play and not be intimidated.

She was doing nothing wrong, simply playing music and that woman had nothing better to do than be a bothersome? Smh.

People in England have become so unhinged and most of the time they'll as they wish.

metro.co.uk/2024/05/09/woman-stabbed-death-near-burnt-oak-broadway-north-london-20807877/

A 22 year old man murdered a 60 year old woman in a attempted robbery.

And another case: www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newslondon/search-for-man-who-intervened-during-sexual-assault-at-twickenham-station/ar-BB1mrDNX?cvid=d68094d192c145269a12d1d3fcbddf42&ei=21

I'm a guy and I honestly don't feel safe as you don't know who might attack.

It's a disgrace how hostile, violent, and disrespectful people have become. This is not normal.

PhilipMarc I am glad its just not me thinking this P , it used to be you would feel more vulnerable when you were older and not able to defend yourself, now it's at any age because of the way society is , and it's all down to the laws being too soft on the thugs and criminals in my opinion

We would be both amazed and delighted to hear live harp music in the street as we have only seen someone playing the paraguayan harp live in the past and that was at a show.

tumblespots Imagine the effort the woman must have taken to get the harp there in the first place T , never mind playing it

Some people are idiots. I love street entertainment. You don't have to give money and actually I'd it helps the area fell safer as its likely to bring people out even if they aren't intending on shopping

I don’t think busking is begging. They are using a skill and if it’s nice music quite happy to put some change in their pot. Cheers up the street. It’s quite different from someone just asking for nothing. Some people are just ignorant/thick unfortunately.

JLouM I disagree with you regarding busking. Do you honestly think these people are showing off their "skills"? Its begging for money end of. I would like to see the various types of streets beggers (sorry, entertainers) made illegal. Have you noticed the excessive amount of street beggars outside places like McDonalds and various supermarkets?

jam45 Well we can disagree. Yes there is a really talented saxophone player in town that plays really nicely. They don’t ask you directly for money, it’s optional. That is totally different from the others you mention which are just beggars outside shops which I do not agree with. You are saying a harpist has no skill?

Iv seen the footage of this online. I love the how unbothered the harpist was & how she handled the lady perfectly whilst continuing to play.

The person who chose to be so rudely outspoken to this lady is most likely very unhappy in their own life and chose to take it out on a person that assumed had too much class to retaliate. Most buskers have to have permission from the local area either the Council or shopping facility. This being the case the lady really didn't have to answer to him at all, she would have had permission. Great free advertising though.

EmmaWright762One comment from a reader suggested she staged it E , if she did she was a very good actress besides harp player , good luck to her 😀

telmel Without viewing the clip, I find it very strange for a harpist to perform live without a valid reason. Now I know why she is a publicity seeker.

jam45 I have no idea why J , if that's the only instrument she plays then that could be the reason , someone playing a banjo would be a little strange too as it is normally a guitar, unless it was a george formby tribute act, but each to their own
