Pay Rise For Half a Million Workers With Real Living Wage Increase

Hello Deal Hunters! If you've been looking for some good money news, this one's a cracker! The Real Living Wage has just seen a 10% hike. That means a chunkier pay packet for many of you, and potentially, a bit more flexibility in your shopping budgets.

Levi Winchester at The Mirror reported that the Living Wage Foundation announced the uplift of its rates from £10.90 to £12 an hour for those outside London, and a rise from £11.95 to a£13.15 for our London-based friends.

The Real Living Wage is a voluntary pay foundation that employers can sign up to. The idea is that their minimum recommended pay to employers is reflective of what a full time worker and their family needs to survive, hence why it is higher in London.

It is different to the National Living Wage, which is £10.42 for workers over the age of 23, and this is a mandatory statute. The Real Living Wage is not legally binding, but rather a guide for employers. Still, this increase could see almost half a million workers getting pay rises.

Tom Church, Co-Founder of shopping community LatestDeals.co.uk, summed it up by saying, "A pay rise for so many workers right before the festive season? This could make a real difference in how people manage their budgets and shop smarter."
