Whooping Cough on the Increase

In the News

Slightly worrying for those who are not vaccinated, 5 babies have died, all aged under 3 months old, I can understand why some parents don't get their children vaccinated but they are putting others at risk, and could this be to blame due to the mass influx of migrants who don't have a vaccination in their country of origin?

What are your thoughts on this outbreak?

I've seen that. It's not just those from other countries but those already here that are anti vaxx. Add in some would have missed them due to lockdown and may not have gone back for it because they may struggle getting appointments and for a long while you could only get phonecall appointments and had to argue to go in to see a gp. I know where I was that was the case.

Jerseydrew yes it's annoying having to tell the receptionist your life story before getting a telephone appointment, which I hate, and now they say go to A&E if your really unwell, no way I'd go to A&E and wait 10+ hours

Our son has a heart condition so he has had all of his vaccinations and probably a couple extra too. It is so worrying that there is an increase. My best friend had a baby a month ago, she is really worried just now. Can't imagine how awful it is for the families that have lost babies to it. It should be that anyone who missed the vaccine because of covid and then the subsequent delays should be seen straight away to get one.

MrsCraig they were calling it the 100 day cough a couple of weeks ago, now it's changed to whopping cough, so it's been around a while, really worrying

When I was pregnant I had the vaccine for whopping cough that was to see her through till she was old enough for her own vaccine it's a shame that people just don't let their children have them because of some idiots saying they cause damage to their children
