Difficult to clean and starts making terrible noise in one month . Though Salter is a good brand, this design is terrible. I have tried several of these and all make screeching intolerable sound after one month. Much better to make Popcorn 
in Microwave with Silicone cup or Buy Microwave popcorn from Costco.
