If 1 Store Could Open near You....
Ask a Question
If you could have any store open in your town, which one would it be?
I wish there was a Waterstones! There are no bookstores near here and I miss browsing instore.
kitty88uk the channel islands. It's beautiful but crazy expensive. We're a tax haven so there's lots of money in the island but a lot of those that live here are skint
Jerseydrew is that so! Sounds like a nice place to be at! And yes can tell it’s very expensive! Have any photos you can share for me to see the scenery?
I would love to see a Pie & Mash shop open at the top of my road. I would most likely put on an awful lot of weight but I really miss the old fashioned London Pie & Mash shops. It would have to be a good one though with real eel liquer and marble table tops.
Fitchet What a great idea. Back in the day we had tuck shops so your idea could replace these. Keep the prices low and you could be onto a winner.
I would love a M&S food hall to open near us. I’m sure it would would be very popular, we have Waitrose and Lidl about a mile away.
Pjran popular yes but M&S foods are pricey lol we have a big shop in town and a local one up the road too
We always buy foods with reduced prices yellow stickers
Past few years more people are buying them too lol like you didn’t care few years ago now they do whatever they can, one time when the cart came out a whole load of people rushed towards it! Damn crazy!
Pjran wow that is expensive lol you do know that it’s just their brand name that makes their foods that pricey?!
When you can get the same amount of fresh tomatoes at a much cheaper price at most supermarkets?!!?!
Do you not buy foods that are reduced with yellow stickers?
Most of them are still good quality even tho ouch it’s near expiration dates
M&S or John Lewis would be a great addition to our town , but as M&S closed about 4 years ago I don't think they would reopen , thou the food hall which was tiny used to be really busy, never understand why they didn't expand that and reduce the clothing area in the store .
Mango4 They did close our M&S in town and then moved it to out of town. I go their occasional, must admit it is always busy when I do go.
I'd love a sainsburys often see good deals but none close. I liked looking round primark but spent too much so probably best we don't have one
We have The Range and now b&m instead of Wilko but not home bargains. Is it the same? No Heron or farmfoods down here either.
JLouM I do miss Wilkinsons and like you with have a B&M instead. Not the same. Higher shelves, thinner aisles, feels very claustrophobic.
I like a local Aldi, have Sainsbury’s and Tesco local walking distance but they wack up the prices unless on nectar or clubcard . I love a proper bakery to be honest.. go get fresh loaf etc..
If there were two stores I could have reopen in my town it would be Wilkinsons and Debenhams.
kitty88uk ...Daughter's just finished her Diagnostic Radiography Degree at Bradford, she gave up her rented flat on Great George St on Saturday & moved back to Sheffield..
Daughter loved Leeds, Sheffield has changed sooo much she says & no longer recognises it..
Sheffield lost Debenhams, John Lewis, Wilkinsons & others, city centre is pedestrianised now..
Like my black cat Phoenix Sheffield will rise again! X
janphoenix51 lol sounds like a place with no shops whatsoever!! Deserted haha only place we go to shop there many many years ago probably haven’t been to that huge shopping mall for over 10 years can’t remember the name. *called Meadowhall
Used to go to Sheffield to that shopping place on way to visit relatives but don’t bother anymore waste of petrol and nothing to do
kitty88uk ...We do have plenty of shops in Sheffield, some are popular, some not so..
Meadowhall IS very popular, when the weather is nice I walk there, it takes 40 min, sometimes I walk back too..
janphoenix51 sorry for late reply no WiFi so I’m down at library now Argh so mad yesterday missed a whole day of rating deals and posting 3 deal offers
That’s nice walking get some exercise
Took me think 10 minutes or so to walk down here
HEDGEHOGS so sorry for late reply! No WiFi signal lost a whole day on doing daily rating deals and posting 3 deal offers
I’m at local library down the road took about 10 minutes to walk down here
Debenhams great place to shop for everything at amazing reduced sales prices!! It’s not the same without it!
I would like a home bargains to pop up in london, although I’d imagine they’d take out poundland if they ever did
Can't pick a store simply because it would probably close down after 6 months, the amount of shops that has gone from our town centre is alarming, M&S gone, wicks gone, Select gone, Wilko's gone, co-op closing down soon, 4 banks gone, town is full of vape shops & tattooists now
martinlufc5637 and coffee shops and mobile phone shops. Gone are the days when it was a pleasure to spend an afternoon shopping in the high street.
Lynibis our local council have been campaigning to local people to use our town centre more, why ??, there is nothing left, it's a ghost town, we have had a great outside market years ago, now there is barely any stalls
martinlufc5637 funny you should say that, went into town on Thursday (eye appointment) and there were hardly any stalls even though it was market day. I noticed a new burger joint called Wendy's though.
martinlufc5637 wow that’s crazy amount of shop closures!! where do you live? I liked going to Wilko’s to stock up on toiletries when they had offers but then it got more pricey and I had to go with to Superdrug ever since they are expensive too but only buy on sales offers!
Lynibis Don’t forget all the places to get your eyebrows and nails down. Our town is overrun by them, but they are always busy. I don’t use them.
Lynibis if you want a Turkish haircut or your nails done it's a perfect town centre lol oh then there is all the tattooists, must be 9 shops
martinlufc5637 I can't believe so many people like to deface their body parts, walking graffiti.
We are lucky where we live that we have most shops in town. I know a lot of people in town would like a Primark as the closest ones are either an hour or 2 hours away. One thing I miss from where we used to live is the morrisons cafe, the closest one is an hour away now.
Iceland, farm foods, primark and a proper fruit and veg store or market. Instead if everything Shakespeare and tourist based.
suevernon1968 omg that’s annoying no shops whatsoever!! Where do you live?! You must have a supermarket store at least?!
suevernon1968 omg that sounds far out of town centre! How long does it take to go to both supermarkets? Are they in the same area? Sainsbury’s is down the road from where I live, Tesco express is up the road on the other side and have a bigger store further away can walk there but we usually go by car. There’s two express stores in town and a local Sainbsury’s and a much bigger one too so many shops in Leeds city centre
When the closest shops are about half an hour away, other than a corner shop a village or two away, I would like anything!
I feel lucky reading the comments. We have all the cheap foodshops near us. There's none mentioned we don't have near in our surrounding area.
The only shop I can think is Zara. The nearest one to us is at the metrocentre & I rarely go there.
I really wish we had more independent homeware/ decor shops. Everything is so samey in the shops these days.
