13 Year Olds Cannot Tell the Time from a Clock
In the News
I saw in the news that 13 year olds could not tell the time with a general, wall clock with hands. This is disgusting.
Teachers at Kilgraston School in Perthshire noticed that the pupils couldn't read the time from a normal clock so have begun teaching them.
What are we coming to? Kids must be able to read the time all ways.
Never mind 13 year Olds my 34 year old husband struggles but my 13 year old can but 10 year old only digital
DannySpeed not really how many kids actually wear a watch today that's not digital and that's adults too
Ann1984 I can't see Big Ben going digital any time soon. Clocks, are an ingrained aspect of our lives.
Yep. One of the secondary school kids on my transport asked the time and when I replied twenty five to four she didn't understand! I had to say it as three thirty five as on a digital clock.
This and some of the comments are pretty shocking. They teach it in primary school so they should know.
I cant understand how they dont know tho! Surely the time is one of the first things learnt after numbers in Primary? My kids who are only 17 & 19 were taught early on.
Oh my 14 year old daughter can when its not school hours it takes her a second as its not what shes used to always looking up at lol but my 14 year old can and i taught her its vital
This is probably because everything is digital now. Most people don’t have clocks at home anymore as they have phones and watches which are all digital. They should be able to tell the time with a clock with hands though but I do think so they will be a thing of the past
I had to stop for a second and think if I remember how to tell the time but then I remembered that I do wear a watch every day with a clock face! .
My 13 year old son can tell the time for a clock. We dont really use a clock often though, if i look at the time its on the oven, microwave, tv, phone all in digital or i ask alexa
When I was 16 my then boyfriend couldn't tell the time and wore a digital watch and when he told the time sounded stupid he read it as it was, I knew he was such a catch I threw him back into the pond
How many pupils was this? All or a few. I don't think i know any children over 10 that can't tell the time using a clock.
This is shocking. Back when I was at infants school, I used to get sent to the special needs teacher sometimes as no one could quite figure out what was up with me (I'm dyslexic and have aspergers as it turns out). I can clearly remember being shown a clock and being asked if I knew what the time was on it and I was like yes...... then I got sent back out to special needs to regular class. I was in infant's school and I knew how to tell the time! no excuses here. All kids should be able to tell the time.
