4G Smartphone Owners in UK Could Be Due £480m Payout

In the News

I think this will apply to most phone owners, at least for Samsung and Apple iPhone owners.

What do you think of this - Would you join in the class action lawsuit?

Ann1984 It depends on how many phones you have had over 5 years, my wife has had 4, so would possibly be claiming £30

Ann1984 £17 is a lot of money to some people, I know I wouldn't be turning it down.

My 4G phone only cost me £40 so don't have much hope of getting the £30 and I don't think many of the cheaper 4G phones use Qualcomm modem chips. I think mine may be integrated into the main SOC Mediatek chip but could be wrong. Qualcomm sound like a vile anti-competitive company so personally wouldn't buy a product they manufacture parts for if I can possibly avoid it. Sounds like it mainly effects the premium end where you have marginally faster better phones at hugely inflated prices which obviously allows for much higher margins and ripping off consumers. Personally I see so many fantastic phones at sub £200 prices I just don't see the point of spending more than that.

Most premium end products are a complete rip off and a waste of money it goes with the territory the best value products that offer decent performance but at reasonable prices are normally in the middle price point for most things.

I head this was for certain android phones purchased on a contract.

Couldn't get my head around how the claim actually worked
