More than 50 Trees Destroyed in City Park

Ask a Question

More than 50 trees vandalised, thousands of £ worth of damage caused, in Bute Park in Cardiff. Police have appealed for information.

This mindless destruction appears to be on the increase, in June, trees planted to aid social-distancing were vandalised.

Why do people feel the need to destroy ?

This is the new generation B, desecrating graves, stabbing each other , destroying property , abusing animals , now this

These cretins are going to grow up and have kids themselves one day, i dread to think what acts of horror they will think up with these parents as role models

I know what you mean, every time I read the news there is yet another story of mindless violence, vandalism and people being intolerant, racism, sexism and homophobia seems to be on the rise.

Especially as we are going to be poorer, facing an energy crisis as most of our power stations are coming to the end of their lives, lack of skilled people I've just depressed myself 🙂 telmel

Youngsters have always had a propensity to get up to mischief but the difference was that in previous generations, there were ’Parkies’ and community police on foot patrol. The risk of getting caught was much higher. There was also more respect for authority.

Mischief was the optimum word then G , nothing more sinister than that

Knocking on doors or ringing a doorbell and running off , maybe a prank on halloween trick or treating, and if your parents found out it would be a leather belt across the backside or something that would make you remember , now its life threatening actions from some kids, arson, destruction , stabbings , extreme cruelty, but to name a few horrors we see daily, and all they get are warnings , you cannot touch them to punish or you would be reported to child care and they use this to get away with it , the authorities and police are just as soft

Thats whats wrong with society in general

I remember "parkies" always shouting keep of the grass 😀

You always got the impression that the public were an inconvenience.

I'm always of the opinion of not tarring everyone in the same age group or similar demographics to whose done this utter and mindless acts.

I am of the opinion though of as severe a punishment as possible to the people who did do this. Rather than reading the judge making them the example ,why don't we make it the norm and then when someone goes out knowing that if they are caught the punishment will be maybe there will be less of these acts if the offender's think the punishment isn't worth losing there freedom ,liberty and they are labelled wherever they go.

I would add, Stuart, that it shouldn't be just the current younger generation blamed for this type of behaviour, it has been similar for several generations, the behaviour has been passed on from generation to generation. And will probably be passed on for several future generations unless it becomes made unacceptable now.
