Sad to hear this news, if you are a certain age will remember the various catchphrases, for me it was "Ding dong" .
Younger fans will know him as the voice of the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter films.
A great actor he starred in more than 200 films, TV and radio series over his eight-decade career. The end of an era. RIP 
Sad to hear about his death. But he lived to be 98 years old. I remember watching various films he starred in. RIP Leslie Phillips.
It was sad to hear the news yesterday but getting to 98 is a great achievement as well as career being a massive achievement. Also sad about ’Arthur Fowler’, Bill Treacher passing as well.
eyeballkerry I hadn't heard about Bill Treacher, but they both did well to live into their 90s, although it is always sad when someone dies. RIP 
He was an actor that turned up in many British films and a few international ones like Spielbergs Empire of the Sun. Seemed to be excellent in all the roles he did. Fantastic age to get to.
Sad to hear of his passing he was a true English gentleman.
