What do you think of this?

I can relate to this, I don't want presents I just want to spend time with friends. But as we get older we are busy, short of money or have commitments.

Happy birthday, hope you enjoy your day whatever you decide to do

Don't worry they get good again as you get older. It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago and on the day I went to a spa with my sister. On way home popped in to younger son's to have birthday cake with grandson who's birthday is same day. On the Sunday he and I were treated to family meal at Zizzi by older son and family. On way home visited granddaughter and received lovely pressie. A few days later granddaughter's best friend came for the evening and yet another pressie. Oh bestie came for evening before the meal, yet another pressie.

Oh gosh sounds like bragging but to be fair I had my share of awful birthdays as a young single mum and later years are much nicer!

Happy birthday!πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰πŸŽˆπŸŽ

Aw no not bragging sounds like you deserve it. I've been a single mum for a while. Now with youngest child's father and still hard work with 3 kids. Eldest has adhd and autism, middle one is almost 12, has hit puberty and just started high school and youngest is two, a well behaved happy child but toddlers require a lot of energy and time. Wouldn't change it for the world though, they are all happy and healthy and my girls made me cards this morning so I'm a happy mummy 😊

joannecroston there you go, you have found the silver lining and I bet those cards meant the world to you. I am sure your current partner will surprise you at some stage. Maybe he can cook dinner lol.

You certainly have your work cut out but it doesn't last forever and even though I am old I do enjoy my 'liberation'.

Lynibis I always try to look on the bright side. I've been through some tough times, abusive ex husband, parents being seriously Ill, losing my grandma, all within a couple of years and trying to be a mum at the same time and hold it all together so now I'm just grateful things are relatively settled my kids are happy and healthy and I have a partner who doesn't treat me badly and respects me, things could be a lot worse x

Happy birthday. Take pleasure out of spending the day with your kids, they grow up so quickly.

I don’t want to celebrate birthdays its all too much fuss. As I get older I really don’t care about celebrating I would much rather see family and friends when there’s no pressure to gift unnecessary presents. Just give me a card, simple.

That's pretty much me, I'd rather my family call and share a cuppa than buy me gifts and cards. It's spending time with my kids and family that make me happy 😊

Certainly not as exciting as when you open up loads of presents as a kid and have new things to play with. But you can still do fun things. Have a day trip. Treat yourself. Go away for the weekend.
