American Woman Prefers British Food to US Grub
In the News
This is a first , an actual American that prefers our food over their own
And the icing on the cake is that she loves HP sauce , HP is also my favourite
The downside is she spends a fortune on the imported UK and Irish goods from her local British deli , a small bottle of HP sauce costs her the equivalent £5
Even worse a bottle of salad cream costs £8.29 or $10 and her last grocery bill from there was £250

Pjran Do they really? Maybe a bunch, but not all.
They'd rather eat paella (ES), bitoque (PT), cod mixed with French fries (PT) or etc. The third one is absolutely delicious when done right.
Don't blame her about the British food. I love hp fruity myself its expensive enough here.
Imnotcheap I prefer HP brown on my chips than ketchup I , the problem is sometimes if i go abroad on holiday some places don't have it , only ketchup
I agree about the price though, if it gets too expensive i will switch to the supermarkets own brand
telmel Colmans for me. I was offered mustard on chips on a school trip in France and was horrified .Now I eat mustard with everything.. even out of the packet! Must be English mustard though.
What is "BRITISH" about HP Brown sauce? The company "HEINZ" who make it, is "AMERICAN" with "GERMAN" roots. It is made in "THE NETHERLANDS" (I gather for a time, since it was last made in Britain (early 21st century), it was also made in "SPAIN").
Since it was a "BRITISH" product (actually anything to do with Britain) the recipe has changed considerably, so has the taste (not for the better apparently).
The pictures on the bottles are however of places in LONDON which ever gullible American knows contains England... which contains Britain (That is not to suggest that all gullible people are American - we've got a fair share of our own).
telmel Thanks for confirming what I wrote, it doesn't mention why the sauce which WAS British is still regarded as BRITISH (by the not too bright) - the product's recipé has been changed since all links (other than it being sold here) have been broken. It's manufactured by an AMERICAN company in THE NETHERLANDS.
That's unless some don't realise that AMERICA ceased to be regarded as British in 1776 and the place they have a sauce bearing little resemblance to the BRITISH HP sauce (other than colour, name and similarity of pictures on the bottle) manufactured. Is not in BRITAIN either. (unless unbeknown to me Holland has been moved)
Poor woman being conned into thinking she was buying a BRITISH sauce. It bears little resemblance to the old HP (British) Sauce. That's not just my opinion but also that of numerous others who remember when HP sauce was BRITISH.
telmel Is that picture from a "Spot the deliberate mistake competion? If so how do I claim the prize?
"British food"
So, fish and chips, bacon + eggs in the morning, and the likes? Sorry, I've never been too fond of that.
U.S. and U.K. in terms of food aren't the best either way, to be honest.
If I lived abroad I'd be willing to pay more to get Hellmann's mayonnaise, I don't like any other.
