Do You Answer Survey Questions Honestly?

Other

I must admit that sometimes competition surveys are not relevant to my lifestyle but the prize definitely is! Usually vouchers or cash.

But I sometimes find the surveys impossible to fill in correctly/honestly as they often don't make sense. The other day I gave a yes/no answer but the next question was as if I had said yes when I had said no. It would not let me proceed.

They often ask your marital status but then proceed as if you are part of a family group, even if you say single and retired.

I must admit to sometimes answering in a way they want me to and it does mean that a lot of survey results are not really accurate. And I think that applies to all surveys, not just competitions!

I try to enter them honestly, otherwise there is no point in doing them, as that is the purpose of them, for collecting that data. Plus then on survey sites you will get more relevant surveys or you will keep getting loads that you'd have to keep falsifying.

I can't say I haven't twisted the truth slightly before, but then I decided I shouldn't 😆

If there is a question I don't want to answer, I will click the option not to answer, leave it blank and see if I can more on. If I really don't want to, I will close the survey.

DeBunny ah it sounds as if you do marketing surveys? I only do comp ones and most are fine but I do sometimes wonder about the person who compiled them lol.

Lynibis I use a paid survey site occasionally. I stopped doing them for awhile as I kept completing most of the survey and then getting 'sorry we have reached our limit for your criteria' or 'you do not qualify' so they never paid out, even 40 minutes in.

But they have improved their systems now, so that doesn't happen or if it does it is easier to report. I also do the occasional surveys for prizes or the ones you need to do to trail a product.

I really should put more effort and time into doing them more often, I strangely enjoy some of them, but others are tedious.

I don't think I've ever won from a competition one, have you?

DeBunny no I don't think I have but have had quite a few wins from comps over the last 45 years or so. Back in the day they were all postal entries though!

DeBunny sometimes you can’t not answer or leave questions blank. When that happens I don’t bother with the survey.

I do answer honestly especially if it’s a product or service review. I’m sure sometimes they regret asking.

I do my best to answer honestly but occasionally find my answer is not in the list and no where to add an additional answer.

It depends. If they are based on opinions, then yes, I'll always give an honest opinion. If they are family or financially based then I opt not to do the survey as I find they often ask for things like postcode which, along with the other information, makes you more identifiable.

PinkyMerrick very true I never give my real date of birth as that opens many doors to fraud and scams.

Lynibis far too many. I'm all for helping, but not if it opens me up to potential fraud, scams and financial abuse. Its a scary world, people are clever. Unfortunately they are also sneaky and unkind.

Yes, I do everything honestly. Too complicated to do anything else.

I always try to answer honestly, but if it doesn't give me the option too I will go with whatever makes sense to the survey.

Lynibis - I do several of them but my favourite is YouGov who knows too much about me, judging from the surveys offered. Luckily I can earn £50 (5000 points needed to withdraw) within 6-8 months.

jam45 I don't do surveys, only those that are part of a competition. I do enter details as honestly as possible but sometimes the questions do not allow you to answer honestly as they are compiled so badly.

I use survey sites all the time, however they are different to the competition ones you are talking about. I always answer honestly, sometimes you have to pick the closest option to the truth as not all of them list the same things for things like employment status.

jms19 I agree, sometimes the next question doesn't make sense when you have answered the previous one correctly.

I did a review the other day saying I was disappointed that some of the plants died. I didn’t complain to the company but to my amazement I had an email earlier saying they have dispatched some more. Great customer service.

Charmed1 I don't actually do surveys, I was just wondering about competition surveys as sometimes they can be a pain before entering the comp. It is often easier to fly through them and tick anything lol

I answer as honest as I can but I know what you mean with questions not making sense ill say I don't work then get several questions about the work place that require answers

wonderingsoul you have explained far better than me! That is exactly what I mean. On occasion I have not been able to move on without answering and therefore have to tick something even if it is not correct.
