Is Anyone Actually Looking Forward to Going Back to Work?

Ask a Question

Is anyone actully looking forward to going back to work? (Deepak, Tom & Kelsey clearly are!)

Or are you so fed up with the whole Christmas thing & your relatives by now that you want to go back to get away from it all?

What do you think of this?

I work with my family so even when I go back to work I’m still with them. And even though we all have time off over christmas you still end up doing bits and bobs

Mr Tumblespots and I worked from home together and as you say you do end up catching up with things even though everyone else is on holiday, but it has to be done sometime... 🐞

Yes I am really as I get bored indoors if I am home for more than two days. I look forward to seeing the kids and babies I work with.

Working with children/babies I can imagine that you would miss them, when I worked in a school I missed them too. 🐞

Oh NO, I do feel for those who work through the festivities and hope it isn't forced on you, but then perhaps most people don't feel they can refuse?! Maybe you will get some time off now that it isn't so frantic? 🐞

Work isn't all it's cracked up to be. Most jobs are just a means to an end i.e. salary. Sadly these days the length of time you have to work for, to get a pension, keeps getting extended too! Just keep looking forward to the holidays & Bank Holidays inbetween. 🐞

Definitely not, I've been loving having lots of time off with my kids to really have fun and relax without work hanging over me

Some of the jobs Mr Tumblespots did were awful and he couldn't switch off even when he wasn't at work! Enjoy the rest of the festivities before you go back. It's lovely that you enjoy the time at home as the children will be grown up before you know it. 🐞

Nope. Not that I don't enjoy it, but I don't feel I get enough time away.

I can sympathise, it seems as though it's all work and no play which makes life dull. I think a lot of people live for the 'not at work' times. 🐞

Haha not a chance! There are far better things to do than go to work, but i have to admit the first few days (or even the first week) things are quite calm so no one hates it completely

Christmas and New Year is far better when you are younger, sadly as you age and people move away it lacks that special magic but a break from work is always welcome. 🐞

I"m in the forces, it's more of a stretch having to leave the wife and kids than anything but thankfully I'm retiring soon, so I'm on a long leave at the moment so making the most of it.

Mr Tumblespots was in the forces years ago and although we weren't together then I can sympathise as I know it was hard for him when he had to leave loved ones behind. His own parents were seperated for over 4 years in WW2 and I know they didn't find it easy either. As you say you can make the most of the time you have on your long leave and look forward to your retirement. 🐞

I went back to work yesterday. Very quiet in the office as most people are still on break. I'm working from home today.

It must be nice to have the chance to work from office/home as required (I'm assuming you have a choice). It's a short break really isn't it, especially if you are back already - even with an emptyish office. 🐞

I’ve actually had a relaxing time this year. Made sure I wasn’t the only one cooking and cleaning and made myself watch tv and enjoy. No school runs till 7th and return to work on 3rd.

Going back to work !? Nice work if you can get it . But after 30 years in the RAF and 20 on the Railways got used to it .(yes I should have retired by now - but don't trust myself not to become vegetative )

Getting children ready for school is a hard task, combine that with getting yourself ready for work and you really know how to 'juggle'. Enjoy what you can, you will probably look back at this time with great fondness later on. 🐞
