This has happened to me a few times and I often didnt say anything as I didnt want to look like I was a moaner. But it really stung. What have you done that someone else took the credit for?

Oh yes, a few years ago at work, I had a manager that actually said to me on a few ocassions thanks for all your hard work, i'll now take the credit, I used to just laugh and say only doing my job.

It happens all the time, managers take the credit for conscientious workers doing good jobs - and take the bonuses too!

Yup. Its awful. One time our team leader came up to me after hr had thanked both of us to our faces and ex colleague took all the credit for work. A massive 2 year project that I'd been solely employed to work on. The fact I ended up staying on for another 9 years doing other stuff is not the point. Team leader came up to me after and thanked me for my work

Jerseydrew I feel for you. It just shows that there are a lot of horrible, moral lacking people in this world.

Yes I've had others take credit for me doing a good job and also been the one to blame when others cant do their job properly.

Yes - but that's what can happen when your boss is interfacing with senior management and you're not 😬

Well, some have tried, but it doesn’t work out well for them, as it’s usually obvious they’re just trying it on - I find it amusing

People at work have tried and I always just said "actually it was me that did that". Always really annoyed them but I did the work, so I'm taking the credit.

When a colleague and I had to write a document on virtues of a good manager in order to be interviewed for the top position in the office, it seemed to be a done job that one of us would get it. I had trained all new members of staff (a 4/6 week job) for the previous 20 years and felt I had a good chance. The manager of a different department who knew nothing of our work or how to do it interviewed one other person who was near to retirement and had no idea about our work, but she got the job. I later had to suffer the indignation of having several of my ideas in the document implemented without any recognition whatsoever.

Lynibis I am shocked you didn't kick up a fuss and pointed out this is my work alone at the time.

jam45 I was getting ready to take early retirement if I didn't get the job and shortly after they wanted two redundancies so I volunteered and got both, not worth making a fuss as I knew I could get a lesser job with less stress with 2 lump sums and a private pension.

jam45 thank you. The colleagues I worked with were great and I stayed in touch for years. They gave me a great send off as by the time I left I was the longest serving member of staff. The woman who went for the job same time as me finally got it (I trained her too), when the old witch later retired. She was the most unpleasant woman and we called her Merkin (look it up) but her name was Myrtle!!
