Who Else Watched the Eurovision Semifinal Last Night?

Ask a Question

My husband and I love Eurovision, we watch it every year. We watched the semi final last night. A few got through that we didn't expect as we weren't fans of the song. Apparently Ireland is a favourite to win this year.

Our entry was OK, not as good as Sam though. Did anyone else watch it? Anyone excited for Eurovision.

I’m not a fan of Eurovision but I did actually watch the semifinal last nite. Didn’t even know that was a thing till last night. Growing up it was just main show on Sat nite but I haven’t watched it in yrs. I enjoyed it last nite. I didn’t like Irelands song but thought UKs entry and video was very original and great. Grandson watched it with me and he loved the singer/group Baby Lasagna and his catchy song Rim Tim Tagi Dim for Croatia

chele44 I've always watched the main show but never watched the semi finals until I met my husband. I didn't like Irelands song either but apparently it is very popular. I like the UK entry, I think it will do well. My husband likes the Croatia song too. It is very catchy.

martinlufc5637 I quite enjoy Graham Norton doing the voice over on the Live show, although I noticed it was Rylan and someone else doing the voice over last night. Eurovision isn't for everyone, I think it is one of those shows you either love it or you hate it.

It's been like a freak show for quite a few years now imo, so I don't bother. We used to make a night of it.

Is that well known European country Australia still in it?

TheChimp they didn't make it past the semi finals this year. It has gotten a lot more over the top over the years but we still enjoy watching it. Our son finds it fascinating.

TheChimp Australia and Israel? Might as well change from Eurovision to Worldvision, then.

I didn't even know that was happening, then again, singing shows just bore me.

I've complained before about this, but why is Israel part of the Eurovision? It's not a Western or a European country, it's in the Middle East.

I do watch it half heartedly for the songs and ridiculous costumes and routines. I mainly laugh at it. We hardly ever get a lot of points and it is such a political vote among the countries rather than the best song but it’s always been like that. Also do we really want the expense of hosting it here again? Let others spend the money on it. 😅

JLouM we always watch the final. They have changed the voting system so there isn't as much political voting as in the past. We didn't do well last night. I think Sam Ryder was our best chance of winning and we won't see a result like that again for a while.

It was interesting with the Dutch act being banned. The Dutch presenter protested it by refusing to go on the video link to announce the points.

MrsCraig I didn’t know the reason for the Dutch ban. I think Olly can do a lot better than that, I thought the song a bit weak knowing what he is capable of. I liked Luxembourg and Lithuania best but Switzerland was better than a lot so ok. I’m not sure what Ireland were thinking 😅.

JLouM the Dutch contestant physically threatened a female member of the production staff. I didn't like Irelands song at all and the staging was quite frightening.

Not many acts were actually dressed this year either. Must be the hot staging lights 🤣.

Rigged. Croatia should have wion, but Croatia has no money to host it. Therefore, Switzerland won.
