Two tried and tested methods that work for me - cutting an apple and sniffing it for as long as possible and also rubbing my thumbs against each other and concentrate on doing it for 5 minutes. Also found out recently that if I hold a chunk of himalayan Salt to my forehead the headache subsides really quickly. These work for me and whilst everyone is different, people I've suggested it to have found it works for them too.

Good luck and hope you find something that works for you soon, that's far too long to be suffering

Anam it doesn't go near your hair just your skin. The shampoo I use has sea salt in it, still have a full head of hair

Nothing works for me except the Nurofen Pink Gel Capsules - amazing headaches gone in 10 minutes but not for everyone as my Bruvv says it causes side effects!

It depends - are they migraines rather than headaches? And do you suffer breathing problems also? Do you wear glasses? Relieving the symptoms will depend on what kind of headache/migraine you have

hspexy I used to have lots and lots of migraines attacks but they stopped no idea how and why. No breathing issue neither glasses.

KijManhas perhaps stress related? Itโ€™s not usual to have headaches or migraines for long periods, although I do find those who say they have it regularly usually have other health issues - someone once told me they had one for an entire month, which is definitely not normal

I would recommend that you see either another doctor. Or if you can afford it, book an appointment with a private doctor. What price would you put on our health???

A healthy diet and plenty of exercise is always well advised.

I do hope things improve for you. Xx

I already have done that 2 countries and private doctors but no one can find any reason I am always declared a healthy person. Well, that's true i have no health issues other then this unexplainable and unbearable headache.

While looking at the health benefits of fasting I remember reading that it helped someone a lot by reducing their headaches. High blood pressure can cause headaches plus eating certain foods, if you suffer from high blood pressure reducing that might help or if you have a favourite food you eat a lot perhaps could be linked to that. However some people are genetically likely to suffer more from headaches. Not something I personally suffer much from, I can go many years without a headache and get annoyed when one finally turns up.

One thing I hate is my head getting hot, I prefer my head to be cold at night with the rest of my body under a nice toasty duvet. Maybe try keeping your head cooler. Just throwing out stupid possibilities, not much science to that last suggestion.

I think poor condition teeth and gums can be another cause, make sure those are in good healthy condition.

BonzoBanana I try to fast once a year it's a nice gesture with Muslim friends and now I can understand why I never have headaches during the fasting month ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

How about having a migraine for over 2 years! oh yes folks, I did that. Did the NHS care? No! Not at all. Long story involving multiple gps, neurologist, gynaeologist. I migraine pretty much every day. I had to stop working as a secretary because of it. great! So yeah, migraines and headaches. I find vodka helps when I can't cope anymore. There's propranolol, which is a drug for high blood pressure which helps with migraines; bear in mind it also knackers your heart (no, really, I worked for the NHS. I've seen thousands of medical records. Oh yes it does. Great because guess which drug I take? Propranolol). there's a tens machine for pain. There's cannabis, which is the best treatment by far and yes it works, but it is illegal and is so hard to get hold of but is the best medicine I have ever found. (no, I don't have any and don't know where to get any, but I will be first in line as soon the UK makes it legal). I also recommend 2 x 30mg of codeine. Good luck getting your gp to agree to that, but it does help. I have migraine glasses which block out blue light. I wear sunglasses pretty much every time I go out of the house. Welcome to my world. What is causing this; well I'm going through an early menopause. Brilliant. Apparently once I've done with the menopause my life will improve and things will be better. Great. Get your allegies done. I had mine done. I have a huge list. So many it is silly. Never stopped my migraines. Oh and by the way if you get your ovaries removed that will solve the problem but they will not do that. The NHS refused to remove mine just in case I decide I want a baby !?!?!!?! Also I did start off seeing a neurologist private and that got me no where. I did acupuncture, reiki healing, crystal healing. Nothing has worked. Now I'm used to it. for me not to be migraining is weird. I get an odd day when I'm not. Also had my eyes checked. I've got perfect eyesight. Spent 8 months fighting to get an MRI scan of my brain. Perfect brain as well my neurologist said, (ironic, I'm an dyslexic aspie), good weight and size. No signs of aging in the brain. No lesions. My advice is sunglases and weed. It's not legal, but my god it works. It gives relief like no other with no side effects. If I knew where to get some, I'd be smoking it right now. I've had terrible migraines all this week. The NHS doesn't take migraines/headaches seriously. you will get no help from them or benefits for not being able to work. They accuse you of making it up like they did with me; however I am on record of first going to my GP with migraines 21 years ago!! Good luck.

Headache could have various factors one of them is not having enough sun which means lack of Vitamin D.

That is the first factor doctors looked into but because I am from a sunny country and bought headache from there so can't blame V D.

See a dentist, know it sounds daft but they know a lot about what nerves are inside the head. My severe headaches, that Doctor couldn't find a cause of, went after having cracked tooth removed.

KijManhas How is the head? I've just had another thought, have you seen a chiropractor, might be able to say if you have something trapped in neck, but make sure you see a good and reliable one and don't be alarmed when they try to pull your head off, makes more noise than it hurts.

Sounds stupid but works for me and my sister, standing with your head under the shower for about 15 minutes seems to relieve the pain and also lucozade seems to ease it hope it works for you

Headaches are one of the most common medical complaints; most people experience them at some point in their life. They can affect anyone regardless of age, race, and gender.

Primary headaches are stand-alone illnesses caused directly by the overactivity of, or problems with, structures in the head that are pain-sensitive.

This includes the blood vessels, muscles, and nerves of the head and neck. They may also result from changes in chemical activity in the brain.

I have glaucoma and get migraine regularly. Iv found putting both my hand and feet in basin warm water at the same time helps. May sound weird but it really does work. You can also add a dessertspoon of mustard powder if the headache is bad. My 99 yr old gran told me thรญs and I thought she was havin me on till I tried it.

Curious to know how you put both your feet and hands in a basin at the same time where exactly is the rest of your body when this is happening?

Basin water on a small stool. Feet in, bend over a bit and put hands in too. Or can even fill the sink and sit on the side of it with hands and feet in.

I read this once. You further the effect by putting frozen peas on the back of your neck. It's something to do with blood flow. Other vegetables may work

Are you drinking enough water? Dehydration is a very common cause of head aches, thus the bad head the day after a big night of drinking. A lot of food and drinks people have now are diuretics
