No, but there are some good stories still being created. For example, 'Landmines Approved for Deer Management' -

"Highland Scotland belongs to the energy multinationals and shadowy billionaires who've bought it and now expect to do what they like with it; everyone else should watch their step."

I remember one year on the news they did a story showing how spaghetti is grown on trees. That was years ago and still makes me chuckle now

suevernon1968 This was probably the best one ever, some many were fooled as we didn’t know any better, spaghetti was quite a new thing to us Brits.

No but some news stories have nearly got me but not quite. Some can be clever. Other pranks are only until 12 am and I’m not often about before then anyway.

JLouM Just managed to prank my husband before 12. We have some extra cars on our drive at the moment, so I shouted out to him someone was looking to buy a car. For some reason he rushed to the front door, made me laugh.

I’m 55 now and as i have always messed around my kids wont even answer the phone to me before midday on April fools day lol. Even at my age I still think its funny to hide behind a door etc then sneak up behind them and shout boo really loudly. My kids sort of roll their eyes at me and tell me to grow up 🤣

Hardly been home since Friday afternoon as I've been at work..

Walking home shattered from work this morning I found out that I had gone home with the key, so walked back to the Supported Living Accommodation & handed it over..

I walked back home, been in 30 min when our daughter went to the back door & shouted there was a DEAD MOUSIE on our lawn, I wasn't happy as I'm terrified DEAD or ALIVE. she then told me it was an April's Fools joke, I would have chased her if I had the energy!!

I nearly fell for this one , i was going to rant and rave about the water companies polluting the seas until i saw the swimmers name , i could not post the link as it is yahoo and they disappear quickly

Exmouth swimmer fined for 'wee in the sea'

An Exmouth resident has become the first person to be fined for urinating in the sea under new legislation to protect rivers and seas from pollution.

Penny Spender, an avid sea swimmer, was issued a fine of £80 when she went for her usual early morning swim at the RNLI station in Exmouth.

She said: “I told my friend I was swimming with that I needed to go ahead of her as I was desperate for a wee. When I got out of the water a Community Support Officer was waiting and told me that I had broken the law, by polluting the sea through urinating. He issued me with a £80 on the spot fine. I thought he was joking at first and then was shocked to realise he was serious.”

The new legislation that came into force on 1st April 2024 is an extension of the existing Control of Pollution Act 1974 and is part of the government’s response to growing public pressure to address the ongoing pollution of rivers and seas across the country.

A spokesperson for DEFRA said that we all need to do our bit to reduce water pollution and that means not treating the sea like a toilet; it is no longer acceptable to swim and wee.

A local resident, Frank Truman, an active environmentalist, said South West Water had ‘spilled’ sewage into Exmouth seas 97 times this year so far and has pumped sewage continuously for over 2,500 hours in the last 4 months. “You’d have to do a lot of wees in the sea to match that!”

telmel ....Saw the trick my birthday twin Dermot O Leary played on Alison Hammond as I was leaving work, cruel but funny & I think Alison will get her own back!

I wouldn't have known it was April's Fools Day without seeing the above clip!

One of my first close friend's is April but I was that tired earlier I forgot to fool her!

The Penny Spender April's Fools joke is a good one too..

Years ago our local paper had a news story that a replacement pier was being towed into Plymouth to replace one that was destroyed years ago. A local cafe got really upset as they brought in extra staff for the day for the rush as everyone was going to watch the pier arrive.

If there were news today of "Sunak has resigned as the Prime Minister of the U.K." I'd be suspicious of it being a joke (not really funny, though) because he wouldn't give that position up so easily.

Or an actual funny joke: "Keir Starmer is the new Prime Minister." haha, yeah right!
