Arguing. is It Really worth the Energy?

Other

I've never been one for screaming and shouting. Maybe the odd cross words but always quick to say sorry if my conscience tells me I am in the wrong. I don't understand people who thrive on aggression and can't let something go.

So you can imagine my horror when a taxi driver friend told me his expected airport run had been cancelled. Due to illness, I enquired. No, he replied, they've had an argument........that has gone on for 2 weeks. I was flabbergasted, such a waste!

I hate it when people who supposedly love each other can't sort out their problems.

I don't like arguing either as it can lead to violence. You can not argue with an idiot anyway.

OneeyedRaven It can be entertaining watching others arguing with each though. Especially on Facebook. 😀

some people thrive on it and sadly social sites and forums seen to be a breeding ground as It gives many a place to vent or attack anonymously which makes me feel really sad. Family feuds over minor things saddens me more life really is too short to let hate and resentment fester. Im with you

Agree, and in that respect am glad Jeremy Kyle has been taken off air. Didn't watch regularly but soon turned over when they became aggressive and screaming.

I tend to forgive and forget, otherwise the forgiveness means nothing. I can be firm when needed but would never lower myself to rant and rave like a fishwife.

Lynibis I once did exactly that and i still die of embarrassment - but in fairness I had just discovered my fiance cheating!!!! Think i made the saltiest fishwife look demur that day 🤣

My wife and I hardly ever argue.

But I like the kissing and making-up part the best.

Uh-oh. That might be why!

I don't like arguing. I've been with my husband 7 years, we've had 3 arguments in that time. Each one was forgotten about 10 minutes later.

I will stand up for myself if I have to but I think that's different to arguing.

Yes, that's what they say.....never let the sun go down on an argument.

Lynibis there is just no point. We will have the argument, whoever was wrong admits it, says sorry, makes the other one a nice dinner and it's done with. We are a pretty laid back couple, so don't tend to argue with each other or other ppeople.

I am more likely to get annoyed about things and then vent about them afterwards! Like the cardiac nurse who was incredibly rude to me over the phone. I understand she has a stressful job but you don't speak to a worried parent the way she did. This is where I would stand up for myself.

I've never been a screamer either and I've never thrown anything in temper. It is such a waste of emotion. That doesn't mean I don't stand up for something that is unfair or that I feel strongly about. I think anger changes with age and I find it incredibly sad that there are so many angry drivers on the road. (it must have a detrimental effect on their bodies)

All that stress and tension. Life is too short to argue over trivialities. And if both scream and shout then they must be of the same ilk and well matched, they need to learn compassion and civility which our partners are just as entitled to as anyone else we have in our orbit.

What's the old saying? "Never argue with an idiot, they'll pull you down to their level then beat you with experience"

I rarely argue, if I'm wrong about something I'll apologise, If I'm right then I've already won.

Occasionally I will have a big barney with my partner, the Coffee Slurper. But generally we are too busy laughing at each other to be bothered. Life is way to short. Plus, we have been together over 17 years and would rather have a cuppa. Tea for me!
