Baby Soother, Pacifier or Dummy

Ask a Question

"A soother, pacifier or dummy is a useful aid for relaxing your baby with an even softer, more flexible baglet which reduces the pressure on baby's jaw and teeth, reducing the risk of teeth misalignment. Medical findings combined with clever technical details make the new NUK Genius especially kind to the teeth and jaw."

My son won't take a dummy. He has never liked one so I've never bothered with them. But I was told that if you are using a dummy then to use an orthodontic one so it lessens the risk of damage to their teeth. This sounds just like that.

WindowShopper an orthodontic dummy is on that is designed by dentists to help reduce the damage to teeth. An orthodontist is an expert in teeth, so they help to design ones that cause minimal damage to emerging teeth.

My cousins had dummies, the older one spent 8 years in braces as they pushed his teeth out so much and as soon as that happened they took the younger ones dummy away, unfortunately he started sucking his fingers instead and they are now shorter than his other hand. Thankfully things have moved on from then

Neither of mine had dummies but that doesn't mean there isn't a place for them. However, I hate seeing parents/carers ramming a dummy into the mouth of a perfectly content baby. The clue is in the name pacifier, to calm a distressed, hungry baby.

My little one would never take to a dummy. Although I tried when he was younger Iā€™m very glad about it now
