To Balance the Scales Let's Have Life's Little Pleasures
Other
I just love it when I open the oven and the cake I have baked has risen as it should (and then tastes yummy).
It's a pleasure to waste hours watching a boxset uninterrupted that I am really enjoying and can't stop watching.
Absolutely love it when a beloved family member pops in for an unexpected visit.
It's a pleasure to sit in the garden in the late afternoon after spending the morning gardening.
I can think of loads more but over to you!
I absolutely love pleasant little kids.
I was about to get off the bus and there was a woman getting off too with two little boys, one was about 2 years old in a pushchair and the older one was about 5 or so.
I let the woman off first and the older little boy stepped back, arm outstretched and said "after you lady" my heart absolutely melted lol.
Oh my, that is lovely, his parents are teaching him to be a real gentleman. I hope he never does it in the future and gets a rude response from a militant feminist!
LittleLisaMarie I'm not surprised I would have a massive smile if my son did that! Bet she was really proud of him.
Well mannered kids are quite cute.
Whenever I am on the bus, I always smile when a child thanks the bus driver when getting off.
RegularComper90 it was just so unexpected, bless him. It really made my day and still makes me smile everytime I think about it.
Talking the dog for a walk on the beach in the summer.
My sons smile and laugh. Playing with my son and reading to him.
Seeing my son look wide eyed at everything around him.
The look of joy on my sons face when he gets his dinner. He loves weaning so far.
Watching a good TV show.
Listening to a good song.
Dancing in the kitchen with my husband.
Having a cup of tea and a chat with my parents/mother in law/granny.
A cuddle with the dog.
Seeing the pleasure in my grandchildrenβs faces when we discover a house in the middle of the deep dark forest (a survival shelter built from tree branches on a survival weekend in the New Forest!)
Watching my dogs have a good old sniff and a run over Salisbury plain. The joy they give me is worth getting muddy or dusty for
Hearing childrens' laughter never fails to make me smile, getting compliments on a meal when I was secretly 'winging it', changing a duvet cover with my husband and pretending we are taking our time then suddenly one of us breaks ranks and rushes to get our own corners in and half the buttons done up only to shout 'I win!'. (yes, I know it's childish but it does make that job tolerable) Good book, glass of wine, sunshine and family dropping in. Discovering after many weeks that I am not a 'tree tart' but, in fact, a 'sweetheart' - don't you just love toddlers?
We all need to retain a little of the child within us and everyone is certainly proving there is a lot to take pleasure in, despite the irritations of life.
- Most important one: My loved ones being happy and healthy.
- Myself being happy and healthy.
- Receiving an email informing me that I had won a competition.
- Stepping on those scales and finding out that I have lost weight.
- That great feeling you have after exercising.
I wish I could take pleasure in the last one lol. I would be more likely to put that one on the irritation page, something I don't want to do but know I should!
Coming home from work and spending time with my family. Days off spent with my family. Our 2 week annual family holiday 95 days and counting
I know we hear a lot about families not getting on or being estranged but I definitely think a happy family life is the greatest of all pleasures.
Getting something for free unexpectedly - was randomly given a coupon as i was walking around in town on Sunday, and I headed to the promo area to find that I could exchange it for a free cocktail
and I just love animals - seeing them, petting them, watching those cute videos of them online...I petted about 3 dogs and 2 cats today, and each moment I felt as if I was in heaven (wagging tails and purring really brings me a lot of joy)
I am pretty much teetotal but wouldn't turn down a free cocktail! I am pretty much the same with pets as I am with other people's babies, engage for a while but glad to hand back lol.
When that ebay notification pings with "you have a bid" then I know it's gonna sell!
That feeling when you wake up, it's sunny and you have no work today!
- When my 4 year old niece visits and seeing how creative and funny she is
- When my normally not so affectionate cat wants a bit of attention
- When I get to the till and the total is cheaper than I was expecting
