Balloons in the Environment
Other
After all of the news about the harm that plastic is doing to our wildlife I just wondered if balloons cause harm to wildlife and environment ? I’ve just popped about 20 that I’d blown up for 2 birthdays earlier in the week and it got me thinking
Balloons are a nightmare for wildlife and the environment, seen so many cases of animals ingesting balloons and dying or getting trapped and entangled in them. They aren't biodegradable either so those same balloons discarded 20 years ago will be around for the next couple of centuries.
I get ya, but we all just live once so might as well enjoy it.
Alcohol, drugs (legal/illegal) and other unhealthy addictions are definitely something to stay away from. It does more harm than good.
Rockman the latter is personal choice and the physical harm is to yourself (although the emotional harm to family is incalculable). But living once so have fun does not cut it for me I am afraid. We are ruining the world, killing wildlife and piling up masses of rubbish, not a world i want my grandchildren to inherit so I think it behoves us all to not be selfish.
Having fun at the expense of our future? No.
Rockman I think we have a duty to try and protect what little of the world we haven't already destroyed and sorry, but it is that sort of mindset that has got us to the point we are at now, native wildlife at the point of extinction, expanses of water polluted by human carelessness and total disregard for anyone but themselves. I don't get the reference to alcohol and drugs that you made at all as it is not in context to the original question.
love balloons in the sky for effect and the smile it brings to a child or a child like adult like me but in contrast to the effect afterwards.. just a waste..
I would sooner see birds flying in the sky, because if we carry on the way we are, we will no longer have them
I love balloons but they are horrible for the environment. They need to figure out how to made biodegradable ones. If someone could do that, they would be minted.
