Beautiful Alliums

Ask a Question

I have lots of Alliums in my garden. Is there a way I can use them when they have all dried? Thank you 🙏

The drying process takes at least three weeks. This may be a long time for alliums to take up residency in your home, so be sure to pick a spot where they can hang undisturbed. The room should be cool, dark and feature good ventilation. Run a clothes line, rope or a piece of twine or wire in the room to hang the stems to set up your new drying space. Your goal is to create a secure, mini drying line, similar to that used to dry clothes.

When you’re ready, gather the flowers and remove any ancillary foliage. Group bundles of two or three stems and wrap a rubber band around the midsection. Then, attach the stems to the line with a binder or paper clip; some people use chip bag clips. The alliums should be fully dry in three to six weeks, depending on the moisture and humidity levels in your home.

That’s great thanks. Could I spray paint them afterwards?
