As a teacher spending can go out of hand during the summer as I am not "working". So mainly it is about not getting bored enough to spend. I make sure I put a task list for the day so I can do all the jobs around the house which is my work that I did not do when I was busy working all day and evenings the rest of the year. I also meal plan to make sure I don't buy too much at the shops. These tips can be used all year round of course. Why do you find summer to be different?

I guess when it is hot you have to drink a lot more water and other drinks such as coconut water, using the fan as opening windows does not always help keep me cool. Overall you can save a lot more money in summer as you dont need to use the radiator during summer ect.

zerocenturyzero Well I do stick with just tap water rather than buy any fancy drinks. I make my own ice as this is always a treat. For the pop and a nice drink I brew my own Kefir. To keep cool I have invested in a couple of cooling mats to rotate, and they are amazing. Fan wise, well I just do use one and that will cost me. Although you can open your loft hatch which lets out the hot air. Keeping the curtains shut all day also keeps the temperature down.

jmsonl Cooling mats sounds like a great idea. I use filtered water bottles instead of drinking tap water.

You can save on your water bill during summer by adding water gel crystals to your compost. I don’t have to water my outside pots daily although I try to remember but sometimes I do neglect them. They’re still flourishing even after the heatwave.

I think the only thing we save in in summer is the gas bill because we dont have the heating on blasting 🤣 We do have days out for food and pay to get in places but some days we do try to go somewhere free or cheap and take a picnic with us, you can save quite a lot on food and drinks.
