have never visited myself, so I think it’s time I planned a trip
Hi hspexy I live in the highlands of Scotland and Orkney is not far from me. It's a lovely place to go for a holiday to see the I can't think of the birds name but they are black and white and have a colour break. Or there are some lovely walks.
thanks for the feedback - I will definitely pop up for a visit, when it gets warmer of course. I love going for long walks amd absorbing nature
hspexy your welcome it's a lovely place you got lots of walks. Along the cliff tops. And there is a famous church not big. But it was made by the 2 war prisoners of war. The whole of the church out Side is covered in shell. and you got sheep living on the beach. Because they eat seaweed. And there meat is famous all over. And it's lovely meat.
nicolajaynehend sounds very scenic, with lots of history and culture to take in. You’re very lucky to be there
hspexy yes I am lucky. And also not far from me is the late queen mothers holiday home. Charles and his wife comes up last week in July 1st week in August. It's a very lovely castle.
Think the birds might be puffins? Not a 100% though, I could be wrong. But yes Orkney is lovely. Beautiful place for a holiday, not sure I could live there, too quiet for me.
I liked Orkney, but not enough to live there. Personally I preferred Lerwick on the Shetland Islands.
It might be the best place to live(if you can cope with the weather) but it is important if you can find work too

hspexy I'm surprised that London made to that list but there's pretty rural and posh areas away from all the 'excitement' in London. Whenever I travel by bus or train to the airport, I see loads of pure green rural zones which feels very peaceful.
And in those remote areas, there's a few people here and there who live there but I wonder what of, they obviously need to have their own means of transportation because buses/trains/metros aren't close to them. I guess, farming (meat, milk, etc) but only they'd know.
That's definitely a great hideout place with hardly anyone around.
