Samsung is more accessible because they have more affordable options compared to apple who just sell overpriced products.

I'll admit I don't have experience of modern Samsung phones but given a choice between Android and IOS on Apple I definitely much prefer Android over IOS. IOS is very restrictive and to be honest I didn't like it that much. Apple is a more prestigious brand I guess so has more appeal to those that see that as a positive, its more appealing to brand snobs basically.

Bossclaz I must admit on one of the recent Apple phones it only had a camera sensor that was 12 megapixels. It was setup with 2 pixels for every megapixel collected to get more light into the sensor to improve images that way but wasn't actually a 24 megapixel sensor so actually for many images was inferior to even budget cameras on phones. I guess Apple's point was for everyday images more light was more important that resolution but well-lit outside shots with the phone were clearly inferior to much cheaper phones and the low resolution meant soon the images got blocky if you zoom as there is almost no phones with optical zoom its all digital which degrades the image as it zooms. All in all it was a way of Apple reducing the cost of their phones in manufacturing cost not reflected in retail price. Another way of increasing their margin and exploiting Apple sheep.

BonzoBanana you can always tell the peasant apple haters pmsl, i use both and pay more for a samsung than i do for iphone, but i must just be a brand snob, isn't that what you called iphone users earlier in the thread?

the average person what makes calls, texts, the odd photo and uses the web could get away with any cheap phone. both makes do it very well.

Bit of a loaded question that one lol. I think there are probably untold others that are equally good if not better but if someone else is buying I'll have an apple please.Ta.

Apple = iOS

Samsung = Android

I'm an Android guy and use Samsung as it is one of the better Android brands, but they all have their flaws. Like, security updates only last for 3-4 years rather than 5-10+ or more.

Security updates are extremely important when you're using apps such as banking so you don't want to risk it at all.

I currently have a Samsung A52s and the security updates should last until 2024, so afterwards I'll look into installing a custom Android OS to continue using it safely.

P.S. It's true people are unlikely to get hacked using an Android/iOS, but better safe than sorry.

I have a personal dislike to Samsung and will never buy a Samsung product again. I also don't think Apple is that great so it's unlikely I will get one of those. I do however do like android and the experience is way better than iOS so would look at different brands myself.

A09 previously had OnePlus, Motorola, apple, Samsung, Panasonic (way before smart phones) and a number of others but currently have the pixel 7pro. From using apple I dislike them and how they work, Samsung I won't go for from personal experience and experience in selling them and dealing with them from that.

ch7leach What's wrong with Samsung? Bloatware? That can be removed very easily - forum.xda-developers.com/t/beta-pre-release-script-advanced-rootless-debloater-for-samsung-phones-and-tablets.4483643/

By 2024/25 I'll have to look into flashing a custom OS to my Samsung A52s (great specs) to keep continue using it securely.

Lineage OS comes to mind: lineageos.org/

Meanwhile, with an iPhone I'd just have to comply with Apple and nothing else. I mean, I could jailbreak it, but I prefer to use it unrooted/unhacked.

PhilipMarc not bloatware whilst I like that. From a company selling the products the after sales service I found extremely poor, all Samsung products I have had have had issues. I'm not just talking Samsung phones and has just generally put me off ever getting them

Custom OS will cause issues to the device so i dont always advise doing that. im not a huge fan of samsung but its what im used to.

I think it’s personal preference, there’s pros and cons to each. There are tech websites that review/do comparisons if you’re interested in seeing what they think and recommend and for what reasons

In terms of operating system freedom and its software, Android is undoubtedly far more user-friendly since you can customize to your liking and install the apps you want. Whether from the Google App Store or side-load them.

I remember when I had an iPhone 3GS (long, long time ago yeah) even something as simple as transferring music was a chore since it wasn't as easy as drag and drop like I can do on Android.

PhilipMarc you can put your own files on easy enough maybe not back then but from the 4 you could, but no need now with streaming. but there's always players like tubidy you can just download music and store on ios. i have problems getting movies on ios, android i can just install cinema hd and get latest free. but then i can d/l movies and shows from disney, prime, netflix to either device.

ios is much better for older or less tech savvy users as its fool proof and you can't just install stuff from anywhere like you can with android.

everyone has there prefrence which is great but what i find funny is the haters of one brand or other what only quote what they have read and cant back it up..

Antiwoke You need to turn on the feature to allow apps to be side-loaded, so it can't be done straight out of the box.

Most just stick with the Play Store and a few apps (Facebook, What's App, banking apps, Chrome, etc).

PhilipMarc if people don’t turn on the allow apps from other sources, no different to iOS. This topic is just click bait to get people arguing. Same as having a firstick if people allow apps from other sources they can have all tha latest movies and tv shows free. But how many don’t.

My point it boils down to preference as most don’t get the best out of their androids.

lucky77777 You can customize an Android UI (layout) to your preference with launchers, icons, widgets, and such. It's really nice to not be restricted to what the stock UI offers.

Apple is just more simplistic and limited.

I’ve had an iPhone for ages, but I’m looking to buy a new tablet.

I really can’t decide between the iPad Air 5 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8. Went and had a look today in John Lewis and they both seem really good.

I love the benefit of adding extra storage to the Samsung. But the longevity of the iPad is more appealing with the added years of OS updates.
