Marks & Spencer is the latest chain to reward workers with an extra 15% pay.
Aldi, Sainsbury's and Tesco have already promised staff an extra 10%, while Asda will give its staff an extra week's pay in June, which works out as a 25% bonus for the month.
I’m sure with the extra pressure they have had to endure, it’s well deserved
My husband works for lidl and they've been given vouchers and time and half for any extra hours worked. Definitely well deserved and well done to the supermarkets for recognising their staff!
Yes, they have had to handle a lot, and the bosses probably had to see how much they made before jumping in with offers of bonuses, etc. If they made £10.8 billion last month alone, then that’s a lot of very busy staff members - busier than Christmas times
Good to know they’ve looked after your husband and made him feel appreciated
It's a good idea and well deserved for most of the workers.
As usual thou a percentage rewards the higher paid workers more than the lower paid workers in the front lines
Yes that’s always unfortunate. What would be good is of the share holders decide not to take their cut...I’m sure that won’t happen
HannahSunderlan This is great news! When we are all panicking about getting supplies and deliveries I don't think the packers, drivers or supermarket staff are celebrated or thanked enough.
Hi i think i think it is a great idea as there are jobs needed and they are doing extra hours very well deserved and finally retailers are thanking the staff
Supermarkets are doing brilliant business because of panic buying and people not dining out, it's quite possible this will develop into long term consumer behaviour.
good for them. It is the least the retailers could do to thank the staff for their profit levels
