Do You Bother with Reviews When Buying Online?

Other

Do reviews influence you when buying online. I try not to look at them anymore as they go from terrible to excellent for same product and leave me dithering. I want to buy some frames for a set of royal mail game of thrones pictures I won ages ago and am torn after reading these and similar:

Worst frames i have ever had!! Frames a so light that even the glass is to heavy , all of them just felt down from the wall and broken straight away!! What a waste of money!! DO NOT BUY!!

Expected fairly poor quality for the price but very pleasantly surprised. Purchased for my father who is a prolific artist so we're using a lot of these. So pleased purchased another box within weeks. Highly recommended.

Absolutely. I always check the reviews on any products I’m unsure with. I also check the score against the review score against the amount of reviews. In the past I’ve bought something with fantastic review but low numbers and it was horrendous. I know I could be missing out on some great products and good prices but too high risk with fake reviews.

Yep, it's the fake reviews that worry me.

Depends on what I'm purchasing, If it's a large appliance, expensive item or something that will get alot of use, I will definitely read them. On the whole tho I tend to ignore them, Iv bought things in the past with fantastic reviews that iv not been impressed with & vice versa.

Yes, it is just another example of human beings holding such diverse opinions on absolutely everything!

We always read the reviews on holidays especially if it's a bargain holiday. Last year two cheapies, one a boutique hotel, good reviews, clean, good food. It was a dive worst food we have ever had, spam lasagne, yep that was a good day. 2nd had mixed reviews, don't go or good. It was a brilliant 2* family owned and the food was heaven, hot and home cooked, definitely go back, well we were due to, now we'll see.

If I'm buying from a company that I don't know, I usually look at Trustpilot, which can be hit and miss in itself.

Always read a couple of pages of reviews if they're good and see if you can see a pattern.

You can also check how many bad reviews that they have flagged or have had taken down which is a good sign of whether they're trying to 'fix' their rating.

Yes I usually do, but I don’t put much stock in the individual reviews. I look at the overall rating, and then read a few of the reviews at both extremes, and make a judgement from that

The thing that annoys me about reviews is idiots are allowed to post them. I saw 1 star reviews for that FoodHub there's a discount for on here currently (like JustEat) because people didn't enjoy their food. Their experience has nothing to do with FoodHub. I see Amazon reviews of 1 star because delivery was delayed. It has nothing to do with the product. You get the point.

I do, I don't buy things that have a low star rating overall. A o always read a few of the bad reviews to see what problems I might expect before buying anything.

Depends what I'm buying and if I've bought from the retailer before. If the reviews are hit and miss I'd have a look and judge for myself - I've found I've been really happy with products that others have complained about just being picky

I would always check the reviews if buying a large/ expensive item. Some people make valid constructive points about the item that I hadn’t considered.

I always look at Trip Advisor reviews when booking accommodation also.

I do like to read reviews of restaurants especially if it’s expensive. I appreciate we all have different tastes but it gives an idea of serve etc. Obviously I take with a pinch of salt if everything is perfect.

Sometimes it is even fun to read some of the feedback comments online...

I always look at reviews. Though unfortunately, a few negative ones can leave me unsure, when it most are positive. Does depend on the item though - sometimes reviews are about delivery, it receiving the wrong item or something that wouldn't affect most people.

It depends what I am buying if it is something that costs a lot I will try and check reviews and compare that product against other companies product of same and look at reviews. If it is something that is inexpensive I would just buy it outright without looking at reviews.

I check the reviews but discount the extreme ones some people would complain at anything and others would be happy with any old rubbish somewhere in the middle are genuine people.
